In the US about half of the cane sugar produced is refined through charred animals bones. Since vegetarians and vegans don't want to contribute to killing animals, we don't use such sugar. I try to buy organic sugar because they use a different, animal free process to refine the sugar. If your not concerned about the animal bones thing, you can just use regular old sugar. So all they mean is sugar that hasn't been refined though charred animal bones. I have no idea if they even use this process in your country.

In my country I'm pretty sure that this process it not used as it would cost too much money. We just have the normal sugar made from sugar-beet and as I know 30-40% of it is imported from Romania.
