Hey there! For those of you who don't know me (I spend a lot of time in the Games and Humor Section), I'm Michelle! A few of us on the "Making Friends" thread have been talking about getting a Book Club started for the bimbos on here who appreciate a good book and some good friends, so I figured I'd post a thread here about it!
ANYONE AND EVERYONE is welcome to join - this isn't some sort of exclusive thing! And discussing one book doesn't put you under obligation to discuss any more - you can participate at your leisure...
This is what we were thinking:
-A book would be selected - once it's selected, you'll have a week to read it.
-There will then be a week of "open discussion" about the book the has been selected via forums (like an online book club meeting)
-At the end of the week, everyone who has participated in the discussion about that week's book will have their username put into a hat and whoever selected the previous book will pick out a name at random - that's the person who gets to pick the next book! They can pick whatever they want!
That way, we'll have a variety of different books and it won't just be one person's taste in reading materials
Please leave a post letting me know if this is something that you would like to participate in! I think that this could be really great
Happy reading!

(Edited so I can include our book club's current selection on the very first post, in case anyone wants to join in)

What type of books would you be reading... ... ... Like what age range?
This is a great idea, and Has been around the threads a few times... I don't know if you have searched it yet, but I do know a few months ago they did this... not sure how it turned up...
There is a group that has been started that talk about books... and other things... Found here http://www2.missbimbo.com/forum/t82033, … k-side.htm
But we don't do the book club thing... we just all tend to read the same books and then talk about them.

We would be reading whatever the "members" picked...So I'm assuming it would be adult books, maybe with a few that may be classified as YA thrown in (I know "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is technically YA)...Ooh I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was already done haha - ten loser points to me for thinking that I helped come up with a cool new idea for the bookish bimbos on here to get together
...I'll check out the thread that you gave! Thanks!

It is cool WhatGoesOn
It happens all the time.
If they were more adult books I would say count me in... but I have never been in to reading The Sisterhood books...
Let me know how it goes, and if this stays up then Maybe I will join on a different book
But that thread is great
we are fun and it is entertaining and there is always a new book someone is reading... which usually gets the others to read
he he.

I'd join but I probably won't be able to give much input for at least the next three months. I'm in the process of closing a restuarant and packing for when I finally am forced to move (my family has to build and move into a house that is wheelchair accessible, has at least 4 bedrooms and a room off to the side to teach piano in while not being overly noisy in the house).
I agree with Lida_Mina though, I don't think I could read the Fountainhead in only one week, maybe one and a half to two (it's a very intense book and if you can't really get into it due to clashing views, it may take even longer). Personally, I wasn't very moved by the Fountainhead but it was still a decent book.

So, during my off-time from Miss bimbo I found a site called bookswap.com. If you have books you want to get rid of, you can swap them with other members and get book credits to get other books.
