So I was wondering what everyone's "home beauty tips were" it can be either a recipe for a face mask or something as simple as a home relaxing tip you use for a nice bath or whatever. I have pretty acne prone skin and use lemon at night I find it helps clear it up as well as bring down any redness in my skin. I'm also a huge fan of conditioning my hair, I leave in conditiner for a long time before rinsing it out.
To relax I enjoy just bringing my ipod and speaker into the bathroom, relaxing in the tub and moisturizing my legs afterwards when i get out without drying off... iunno I always feel better afterwards.

i tend not to towel off after a bath as my skin is quite fragile (i have to use steriods for an auto immune illness) i just slather on loads of moisturiser and wrap up in a big towel and let it all sink in.
once a week i'll deep cleanse my face, splash with water and then put a thick layer of vaseline on and leave for an hour. then i tissue off any excess vaseline. it leaves my skin really soft and smooth.

i use to love putting vaseline on my lips before going to bed, when I woke up they felt sooo soft and pouty... it was awesome! Ugh, where is my vaseline, works so good for so many things. I have bad skin though so I can't put it on my face

vaseline is one of the beauty items i would not be with out - i use it for all kinds of things.
the other biggie in my toiletry bag is sunblock.
when i'm asked , jobwise (i sell cosmetics and perfumes) what is the most important item to buy, i always say sunblock or sunscreen.

I never use sunscreen except on my face. I have really pale skin but never sunburn or even tan, even if I try. I like being pale but sunscreen just doesn't seem neccesary when I don't get any sun, its like I'm invisable to it or something.... but my face already has alot of redness in it and my nose will burn sometimes, so I use sunscreen on my face.

you get exposed to uv rays all year round - even in overcast, dull days.
i have very little colour in my skin so i don't tan but that means the uv rays do more damage. plus using steriods also makes me vulnerable to sunlight so i use a sunblock all year round.
there's a new trend for so called anti aging suncreams. this always makes me laugh as the very action of a suncream blocks the damaging aging effects of the sun.
my sister has always sunbathed while i never have because of my pale skin.
everyone is always shocked to find out that she is only six years older than me.
she looks so much older and i usually get asked if i'm around thirty.

Honey can work as a facial mask because honey has natural antiseptic qualities. It is also good for colds.
Milk will soften skin, so mix it with honey and you get a pretty good thing going. For exfoliating qualities, work in some dry oatmeal.

ooh yes.
a big spoonful of honey in your bathwater is good for your skin.
and no - it doesn't make you sticky.

Ill stay close to this thread haha
I have very weird skin!!! First of all Im not white and I don´t have the nice brown tan color either, (I always say that im somewhere between green and yellow) I don´t have acne problems, but my skin is always dry and itchy, even if I put creams on my face is like all of my pores are open and dry, I hate it
I wish I had shiny skin hahawww

surita - try the vaseline mask a couple of times a week.
what do you use to clean your face?
Offline

I suppose I should mention that old cucumber slices over the eyes trick to get rid of under eye bags.
Hm.
A free steam facial; when pouring out that water left over from boiling pasta into the sink, carefully lean your face in the path of the steam.

hahahaha that last line made me laugh so hard for some reason
i had a friend that used hemorrhoid cream (preparation h) on her undereyes if they were dark and puffy. always thought it was really funny and maybe a little harsh for facial skin but it def worked
i'm a fan of oil-based or just straight up oil left in hair overnight every few weeks, and no heat drying. my hair is a bit passed my waist and i have less split ends then when is was shorter but before i did these things

Well, I mix two eggs together with a drop or two of vanilla extract and put it on my face for 20 minutes. It leaves my face so smooth and clean.

Well, yeah. I learned the hard way with a bag of freshly popped popcorn. It just smelled so good, I opened the bag right up and stuck my face close to inhale the buttery smell.
My world was a world of steaming pain.
So in the end with that in mind, I've been giving myself free steam facials for a while and no pain because I am careful. Yep.

if you use make-up, to take it off try massaging some almond or olive oil into your skin and use cotton wool to wipe it off. follow up with some witch hazel solution, to get any remaining make up out of your pores.
i have to be really careful with toiletries - i use a lot of E45 products along with natural oils and vaseline.

Tree sap to heal wounds
Seriously, it works wonders! Especially pine. Just put a bit on a bandaid and off you go.

I'm a big fan of Vitamin E in liquid form. At night I will put it on my face like lotion and on a scar on my arm-- the scar is healing and my face is very clear. You don't need to put much on, just enough to cover. Vitamin E is also the only vitamin that can be absorbed through the skin.

Mayonnaise makes your hair silky! Just put some in for 10 mins and wash and rinse as necessary. Mix a banana and some honey to moisturize your face, makes a good mask. Also a little bit of baking soda and some warm water on a zit will help it go away faster and reduce redness if you it on a blemish over night.

Oh and if you put some oatmeal into an old stocking and put it in your bath it will soften and soothe dry itchy skin.

I tried honey as a face mask yesterday, and it definitely made my skin soft. I also had some redness which it reduced. Yay!

Does anyone have anything for hair that has been dyed so many times it is just falling apart? When I was younger I used to dye my hair every month and it is completely damaged. If I cut off the damaged part my hair will be way too short for my liking. On the top of my head my hair is smooth and silky and then the rest of my hair is dry, damaged and poofy. It looks really weird when I have my hair down straight.

Try mayo

I like using apple cider vinegar on my hair. Mix 50/50 apple cider vinegar and water into a spray bottle or cup. Spray or dump onto hair and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse your hair and shampoo as usual.
The vinegar gets rid of the product buildup and leaves your hair soft and shiny.

That happened to me too. All i can tell you is DONT use hair dryers or heat styling unless you absolutely have too!! Get yourself a good conditioner, and leave it in overnight twice a week, and regular trims because the damaged hair will just keep splitting and you'll end up with really bad split ends.
It wont make the damaged hair better, but it will make it look better
I've also found out for dry skin, mix two tablespoons of sugar into a cup of olive oil, work it over the dry skin for a few minutes and wash off. Leaves you really soft.
Oh and for feet, hands and anywhere on the body actually i mix a cup of cream (the kind that can be whipped) with a few mashed up strawberries and a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of natural yogourt. Plus, it's edible and tastes oh so yummy.
