Well I'm currently in school learning French and my native tongue is English (of course), but I was wondering if any one would be willing to help me on the side learn German. I find it to be a very fascinating language and I would enjoy learning it. Thanks.

www.livemocha.com has great free, easy language lessons. You can learn german at your own pace, and, if you so wish, move ahead in french and be the top of the class! ;D
I love their lessons. They've helped me! You do have to learn the grammar things on your own, but everything is there in the lesson.
And no, I am not paid to advertise for them, lol.
Any questions, ask, and I'll see if I can help you.
Good luck!

Here are some simple phrases in german:-
Hello - hallo
I am - Ich bin (your name)
I am (age) years old - Ich bin (age) jahre alt
Numbers in German
1-ein
2-zwei
3-drei
4-vier
5-funf
6-sechs
7-sieben
8-acht
9-neun
10-zehn
11-elf
12-zwolf
13-dreizehn and it goes on, you just put zehn at the end of numbers from 13 to 19. Apart from 17 which is siebzehn
20-zwanzig and then it's
21- einundzwanzig (translates to 1 and 20)
and then it goes on and on. Just adding the right number to where ein is.
example:- 22 would be zweiundzwanzig
29 would be neunundzwanzig
The same rule applies to all the numbers up to hundred then it gets wierd.
30-dreizig
40-vierzig
50-funfzig
60-sechszig
70-siebzig
80-achtzig
90-neunzig
The word order changes a lot so unless you have a real german teacher or some learner thing, I cant tell you more then this or else you'll get confused.
But I'll tell you if you want to know anything in particular. Just PM me
