well i've been offered a modeling contract and im soooo excited. They're paying for my shoot in london next week where i'll have my hair, make up, fashion etc all done and paid for by the agency. The only problem is i have to pay copyright for the pictures and the minimum for that is £150.
now im a student and dont have much money but i really want this. Has anyone does this kind of thing and could offer me advice on whether i should or shouldnt do it cause im really stuck. My mum doesnt want me to but at the end of the day its up to me. I just want to know if it will pay off in the end and is it worth doing?

I say go for it.. You might not get this opportunity again and even if they don't "accept" you or whatever, at least you can say you tried and you won't wonder "what if"..
Take a chance honey!

Who exactly do you pay copy write to? And have you been through this with someone who actually knows something about copy writing.
Basically just be smart about it, make sure you do your homework. Look into every detail and make sure you get the contracted checked out by a solicitor before signing. Then when everything comes back looking nice and rosy, which I am sure it will because I just worry about everything and it is actually all fine, go right a head!

Whoa, are you absolutely certain that is legitimate?

That's what i'm worried about but it's the only way i can get them to take the pictures

Do you need the photos? What are they for? Are they to get you your contract because you do not need a portfolio to get a modelling agency just a good home photo will do just as well.
I really would be suspicious.

You never know, go ahead and do it. At least you can look back years from now and not wonder what could of happened.

everything i've ever read regarding modeling advises that it should not be necessary for you to pay anything if the shoot is legitimate and worthwhile. for that much money you could pay someone to do your hair and makeup, buy some clothes, and pay a photographer for a few photos to make your own portfolio...
do what will make you happy, because few things are worth looking back and asking yourself "what if?" but do know that there are tons of girls out there also wanting to model, and these agencies know that and therefore can get money out of at least a few of them

Ohhh, I would be careful. they say that if you have to pay for it, it is usally a scam.
I am sure you could find people who would give u all that and pay you for the the photos.

normally the (magazine or whatever) would be the ones that wanted your image copyrighted and paid for you. otherwise itd be optional. look into the process and talk to people that know about it legitimately.

I would be extremely weary. Usually when you're made to pay for something in a situation like this its a scam. For instance there are scams out there where they tell you they have $5000 for you but you have to pay $100 for bank fees to get the money released. They take your money and you never see a dime or hear from them again.
Be very careful either way. Once they have pics of you there's no telling where they could end up if it is not legitimate.

Yeah that sounds like a scam to me, I have heard about them...you shouldn't need to pay anything up front. and if it's copyright for the pictures you should at least get to see them and see whether they are any good first.

Legitimate offers do not require you to pay money for something like pictures. As much as it hurts to decline, it' probably far safer to walk away from this one.

I was always told that any agency that asks for money isn't a real agency. they are supposed to scrap a bit off the top when you actually get some jobs. you really shouldn't have to pay.
Get a copy of the contract and have your mom (or someone older that can be unbiased) look it over.
Contracts are hard to get out of and even if it SEEMS like a good idea it could be a trap.
