I waited to be 18 to give blood since I was 14, but when I reached that age, I had so many things to do and I partially lost the will and in the end I have never donated blood.

we dont get the BCG any more. it was discontinued this year so we are the first year in my school not to get it. i heard it hurt really bad. i think it was because it was a bigger needle. im so glad i dont get it!
but there have been several TB outbreaks in the last few years, why would they stop it?

The blood people came to my uni once and I went along to donate but when I was in the queue I started feeling faint and threw up on the floor, so I didn't donate in the end. I was so annoyed with myself. I haven't gone again because they never came back to uni and their usual place is inconvenient for me to get to. But I just moved house, so I'll find out where they do it in this area. I really would like to donate, since I can.

i cant donate blood because i have epilepsy and the medicine i take build up in the blood over time so no others can tolerate my blood. thats one reason. some others cant eg diabetics or some with blood diseases.

does the big needle not hurt more??

If you are asking me...
Then yes the big needle hurts like a 'mother father' but you get used to it, just jab it in super fast, it has to go into the muscle. I used a different drug with a small needle like for insulin (just into the fat), but I couldn't tolerate the side effects of the drug, and it was 3 times a week.

Vomiting is why I don't there are weight restrictions as to whom can give blood in the US if you are under 110 pounds you can not give blood, and if you are close to that you can get very ill. I was only able to give 1/2 a pint before they had to unhook me- I then proceeded to get sick and vomit.

Oh, I read somewhere that if you cough just before they inject you then it lessens the pain.
Someone try that next time they have a jab!
I can understand that people get sick or have other complications which means they can't give blood. But I know so many people that could but they just don't bother.

Shots do not bother me at all, as long as I can see them. That means I AIN'T TAKIN NO BUTT SHOTS!! I think I was around 12 and the doctor asked my mom if I had a problem with needles....she told him not at all. The he told me to bend over. He had a better chance of a snowball lasting in heck. He tried for about a half an hour to get me to bend over. My mother finally told him to give up, it wasn't happening.

i heard about the cough thing to but i was too scared to try it. apperntly it distracts you so you dont notice the needle

Injection may hurt more or less depeding on many factors, like the ability and tenderness of person making injections, and on medicine which is injected. There are also some others.
But when taking out blood it all depends on person who do it, I tell you!

we just got a injection for diptheria, tetnus and polio today in school. for the last few days ive been lookiong foward to it as ive never minded injections before. then today about 10minutes before we had to go and get it i started to laug uncontrolably. iwas completely hysterical and it would stop for a few minutes then start again. i mangaed to keep still long eneough to acually have the injection but for about two hours after it i was still laughing. everyone thought i was on drugs or something as i was lauging so much.my arm wrecks now becaus eof the injection event hough it didnt hurt at the time.
what are you like with injections?
love them or hate them?
Well since I have to give myself loads of injections and have blood drawn once every three months I don't mind especially as I used to think it was bad me having to go in to have so much blood drawn but then I asked the phlebotomist who drew all the pictures in her rooms and she told me about the two sisters who are very ill and have to have blood tests done every week. She said they were three and five and she has watched them frowing up for a couple of years...
So no injections don't bother me... sorry for the long story....
