It's my birthday on Sunday and my brothers got me a present and card! You can not imagine how excited I am. They probably spent less than a pound but the fact they spent real life money! My brothers are both in their teens 13 and 16 and up until now have been giving me monopoly cards and the same yahtzy game for my birthday. We dont even have a monopoly game at home!
Lol if you don't have monopoly at home maybe they are giving you a bit each year so that one day you will have your very own full game of monopoly
I think by the time I'm 50 I will have the full game! So far I have a bunch of useless cards and a couple of hundreds.

Go for it. Its not bad, its your property and you can do what you want with it. Also get the white basket with the flowers and when you go to attach it add a bit of super glue to the bolts before you finish tightening them. Neon pink streamers on the handle bars. Pink seat. My 16 year old son suggested putting some pink dye in his shampoo so his hair will match your bike when he rides it LOL. He also suggested washing his whites with a red item of clothing so he has pink clothes too LOL.

I love the pink clothing idea!
Revenge is fun
I have no new ideas to add (yet..) but I second all of the above

I'd watch out for the pink hair dye one because you could get in trouble with your mum if he gets pink dye all over the bathroom and it's technically your fault!

A few months back, I had let my younger brother use my bicycle just for his convenience to go to school everyday... Thus I had sacrificed my 'fun weekends' because I don't get to use it often anymore...
But it drives me and my family mad that since he uses my bicycle, something always goes wrong or missing with my bicycle parts, and it bothers me even more that he don't find it wasteful to spend his money to fix the bicycle...
Eventually I got angry because he finds it okay to forget that the bicycle is still mine and I have the right to know whatever he wants to do to it...
Even yesterday when I just tell him simply that he needs to handle it with care and not just drop the bicycle however he wants, he YELLS and claims that it's his money and I don't have to bother telling him what to do... We argued until my mum tells him off and even said that I'm right...
Today morning, I'm so enraged that he had painted it black without telling me... My bicycle is originally red in colour, and he even make some changes that makes it doesn't doesn't look 'Right' anymore...
I decided to teach him a lesson by painting it PINK tomorrow when he's not around... I got to know that he doesn't have enough money to buy anything... I'm doing this to make my bicycle look better again and at the same time to humiliate him when he uses a pink bicycle to go to school... What do you guys think? Okay, or is it wrong? My mum is not against it either...
GIRLPOWER
hahah thats a great plan!!! hahah

Thanks everyone, but the good news is, I've talked with my dad, and he says that he will give my darn brother a scolding and told me not to argue with him...
My dad also says that my birthday is coming soon so he will buy a new bike for me... I think that the pink can paint spray will be better used for my future new bike instead... That will be much better because as my mum says, it's going to make my brother jealous and I will definitely have a great looking bike once I designed it 'girly'...
HE will regret painting my previous bike black in the first place... LOL!

Do it! It's YOUR bicycle, and he shouldn't paint it black without asking

Maybe your parents think this is for the best.
Personally, I would have taken the bike away from him, as it wasn't his in the first place.
I'm of the frame of mind that by letting him keep this while you get a new one just subconciously shows him that it's "okay" to borrow things then assume that it automatically becomes his and not return them to their rightful owner. It's as good as stealing.
I'd lock up the bike and make him walk his lazy butt to school.

Okay, maybe I'm just missing something here. But if he had enough money to keep fixing things on the bike and whatnot, why couldn't he just get a new one that was his own?
Anyway, maybe I'm just a mean and selfish person, but at this point I'd let him to whatever the eff he wants to the bike, and make his arse get ME a new one, since obviously he has ruined the old bike for you and basically has taken it for his own anyway.
*edit* I hadn't read you update when I wrote this. YAY for you! I hope you enjoy the new bike

My 16 year old is very mature for his age and gets along with almost everyone. The only kids he does not like are the gang bangers, wannabe gang bangers and the jocks. The jocks only because they pick on anyone different from them and most of Brandons friend are different LOL. Everything from EMU's to skaters and in between LOL.

OMG!! I know I had that basket ... and I swear I had that bike in Purple!
I think it's a little mean to paint it, but at the same time it is your bike. he needs to figure out that it's not his just because you let him borrow it. My little brother was like that for a long time. He would decide that since we let him borrow something once, he could come take it whenever and then suddenly it was his!
Your brother should be saving for his own bike instead of spending money on yours (except to fix things he's broken)
*edit* I finally read a little more. I think your dad did the right thing. My dad would have done that too

Ditto!
I love my little brother to death, but he is 20 and seems to think the world owes him something. He lives out on his own now and still brings his laundry over to my mom's for her to wash and iron. Not only that, but he comes over for dinner almost everyday and he eats like a sow and never offers any money for groceries or anything. He just acts like he's entitled to everything. Oh well I suppose my mum lets him get away with it so she's just as much to blame!

I almost can't believe how many different opinions are there for this problem... I'm grateful and not at all offended, thank you...
And Anchoredwunderlust, I also believe that what is considered 'girly' is not offensive, but you have to understand that boys around my brother's age definitely don't like pink, flowers, ribbons, glitters and so forth... He does hate all that, thats why I think it's a good idea to paint my bike pink...
By the way everyone, today while my lazy brother is still asleep, I had cycled out and put on a new basket to the bicycle... It's not girly at all, but he don't like it still...
It's obvious that he treats it as his own because the basket is supposed to be for convenience yet because I bought it instead of HIM, he hates it... But I ignored him and pretended nothing happened... Now it's easy for me to do groceries and fill it in the basket...
LOL! Can't wait for my new bike though, my birthday is still 2 months away...
