LOL! so that´s explains it all!

then we should have been able to do some photoshop customization on the designs, just to match lisas´s style.

That DEFFINITIVELY clears out everything...

Take something that´s already made and stick you name on it!

Actually she never says they are her jeans it clearly says they are J Brand jeans. I think this is just plain wrong and uncalled for.

Sure she may have judged an online contest poorly but that does not mean she is doing anything wrong in her business.

im just saying I wouldnt trust her.. but if you cannot take life with any bit of humor... Im sorry for you, you must have quite a sad life.

Specially, if you cannot notice sacarsm. All this is about giving an award on someone who´s not the intellectual nor creative owner of the outfit for wiche she/he got the price in the first place.

Ok, people can have different ideas o what "Bling" is, the same way  other can have different ideas of what elegant, nice, ugly, etc are...

the whole thing here is that the judge didnt even sticked to their own rules (by discarting designs with no description despite thye fact it was optional) and gave a price to a design that wasnt created by the bimbo that finally won.

Imagine someone getting a nobel price for the theory of relativity after Einstein, a price to architecture for designing the partenon several thousand years later, etc...  ok. Most contest doesnt say "plagiarism  is not allowed" because it´s implicit... and even ther once pointed out, the "winner" is disqualified. (wich IM NOT EVEN SUGGESTING! there´s a slim chance that the creator didnt notice it was a premade costume)

so? do you feel happier now that Im bitter explaining it?

(sorry for the rudeness everyone else... it was much better before)

Oooh, I have a bedazzler I could put your name on a pair of jeans, I am sure that anyone with $19.95 could order their own bedazzler and everyone could customize their name on their jeans.  Everyone is a winner, Lets get our bling on.

Re: Lisa Delicious 'bling' contest results

First I want to say congrats to all the winners and to everyone that entered. A lot of them were really fabulous and original.  smile It was fun putting an outfit together and I enjoyed entering. That said, I do have to follow this up a bit:

I don't post often (this is what? like my 3rd post or something?)...I just enjoy playing with the fashions....but I felt the need to respond to this like so many others.

I agree with the majority of what has been said here. I feel that the rules were not very clearly established...or actually, I thought they were, but apparently Lisa had other ideas. Admin and future contest judges really need to be sure that they are in sync in what they think the rules are.

As someone stated earlier in the thread (not digging back through all of the posts to find it) but probably 90% of people view "bling" as jewelry...gold, diamonds, etc. In fact, if you look up the definition of bling this is what you get:

(From the Urban Dictionary): flashy or gaudy jewelry, named for the sound generated when worn.  (from wikipedia): Bling-bling (or simply bling) is a slang term in hip hop culture that refers to flashy or elaborate jewelry and ornamented accessories  (from Merriam-Webster dictionary): flashy jewelry worn especially as an indication of wealth; broadly : expensive and ostentatious possessions

If Lisa's idea of bling was something different than what is considered the "norm" then that should have been clearly stated in the rules, otherwise the entire contest is unfair to that 90% of the population that view "bling" as stated above.

As someone else stated earlier (again, not digging)...if Lisa's idea of this contest was "put together an outfit that will totally wow me" then that is what should have been stated in the rules as the theme. Not "bling". And apparently not even original.

It's my understanding that the pre-made outfits (at least some of them?) on this site, including the winning outfit of this contest were actually designed by contestants on the French site to a contest there to actually design an outfit? So this design is actually an original design by someone that plays on the French site? Perhaps she should have won the jeans. big_smile

On a side note to the people that were debating the origin of the word "bling", Wiki does offer info on that if you care to look. Can't say how accurate it is, being wiki after all.

I am sorry but you have to be VERY careful with sarcasm on the internet as sarcasm is shown by tone of voice and that is very difficult to get across in written text. Your post did not sound sacrastic espically taken with you pervious posts. It just sound rude and disrespectful and not based on the facts of the matter.

Yes this is about the contest however your post was a personal attack on Lisa and her company and was uncalled for even if it wa your idea of "humour".

I agree with most of what you are saying about the contest and have posted my own views on the issue however that is an online contest and is nothing to do with how Lisa Delicious runs her buisness.

Re: Lisa Delicious 'bling' contest results

If I was a designer and had to choose between a lot of styles that people had put together from clothes that weren't designed by themselves I too would want to read a motivation.
Perhaps the winner had the best and most original explanation of why she had made that choice? Or perhaps the ether outfit really is what stands out if people play it safe in their colour combinations etc...

No one that entered did so with their own designs, it would have been against the rules to use ones own designs. Ok, the ether outfit is there with all it's parts... but a lot of the other nines stuff clearly go together as well although it isn't named jerrica, goddess, ether etc...
since no one has actually made any of the outfits themselves, just "composed" a look of premade things of course motivating your choices will give it more weight. At least Lisa was honest about it and said that she had made that selection... yes, it was only optional to write something... but still...

About Bling.

Main Entry:
bling–bling Listen to the pronunciation of bling–bling
Pronunciation:
    \ˈbliŋ-ˌbliŋ\
Variant(s):
also bling Listen to the pronunciation of bling \ˈbliŋ\
Function:
    noun
Etymology:
    imitative
Date:

I think the ether outfit fits the ostentatious part really well.

Re: Lisa Delicious 'bling' contest results

Well next time they should describe very clearly what they want in the rules because they don't do it, you can tell by the result of the contest, there is absolutely no bling bling in the winner outfit if we judge on the meaning of the word most of the people know.

Re: Lisa Delicious 'bling' contest results

ok, I know everyone had said this loads already but.... pre-made outfits just shouldn't be allowed in contests. I didn't enter this particular contest because the theme didn't interest me, but seeing the winners for this has discouraged me from entering any other contests as I really enjoy piecing an outfit together myself, and I'm not going to bother if the judge is just going to choose one (in this case 2!) of the pre-mades.

But anyway, congrats to those who won or gave it a shot.

Lisa delicious has given me the results to her contest. It took her 1 week to decide the winner so that shows how difficult it must have been!
She also told me that she prefered entries that included a line or two about why you chose the design/your feelings behind your entry!

haha nice edit chris tongue
