Woah 5 dresses, I hope she didn't buy them all?? That could work out quite expensive! I got my dress off ebay for $385, as soon as I saw it I just knew I had to have it

I think she did something similar - she's in NZ and said they were on a site called TradeMe but that the dresses came from China - by the sound of it she got all five dresses for less than the price of buying one in NZ so when she picks 'the dress' she's going to sell the other four to make a wee bit more money towards the wedding!
Your dress is gorgeous! How did you know it was the right dress? There's so many out there!

Rmd, I would be too scared looking at dresses 4 years out because I wouldn't want to find one I love and then buy it and then 4 years later it either doesn't fit or I don't like it anymore lol... I got my dress 5 months before the wedding and even then I was scared that I was getting it too far out lol
Thanks Aleyah, I miss it
. But I am going for a visit on the 22nd with my son so I can't wait!
Oh I know what you mean! I bought mine about 5 months before the wedding too. I was dieting so I knew I would lose weight and have to have it altered, but my grandmother is really good with sewing so we figured she could do it. Well, by a couple months before the wedding I tried the dress on and it practically fell off and there was no way my grandma could fix it. So I took it to the store where I bought it, since they did alterations, to have them alter it for me and they told me it was pointless that I might as well just exchange it for a new dress. So I got the same exact style of dress in a smaller size luckily. And actually I liked the new one better b/c it had silver threading sewn into the embroidery which matched a lot of my decor!

I dunno Rmd, it was just something the clicked as soon as I saw it. I kinda just went "OMG this is the perfect dress!" of course there were others that I looked at and loved but there was just something about that dress that made me need to have it.
Kennydra, you're lucky they let you exchange it after having it for so long, I don't know about over there, but over here it's like 30 days and thats it, you can't exchange after that for no matter what reason

I know Aleyah I was very lucky! I didn't even have my receipt, all I had was the carbon copy of the check my mom wrote for it at the store. They knew it was their dress though b/c it was David's Bridal and I had their bag and everything. They also knew that they'd still be making a few hundred off of the alterations that still needed to be done on the new dress. I'm short (like 5'3/5'4) so I needed it hemmed, they had to still do the bustle so I could fold up the train at the reception and a couple other nips and tucks. So I'm sure the fact that I was spending more money helped lol
I'm getting all nostalgic here so I figured new thread why not post some new pics!

Aleyah - your pics are lovely. I would love to live in a place like that. I got married 11thAugust 2006. Heres a pic of my dress. Not a thing went wrong on the day and if I could I would do it all over again. The pic is a bit distorted but ah well. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb63 … 0_0073.jpg

Thanks ladies.
I went to pick out dresses and just kept coming back to this one , plus it was discontinued so I knew it would be very unlikely that anyone would have the exact same dress again.

Its just something you know, once you find the right dress you know inside yourself that its the dress you have to have!

I got married last year in May. Quaint little ceremony in a quaint little church. We did the reception on the beach to say goodbye to my maiden name.
The picture is huge so I'll link to it.
The purple colors are in memory of my Great Grandmother who meant the world to me. Purple was her favorite color.
Your dress is beautiful. I love that colour.

Yeh I took the shoes off before I even walked on the sand
The train wasn't a problem though, it got a little dirty underneath but apart from that it was ok, it got a little wet when I went in the water though:
But it dried pretty quickly

I'm going to get my dress dry cleaned (haven't done it yet because it's going to cost a couple of hundred!) But I didn't have a problem going in the water or on the sand because at the end of the day it can always get cleaned, and I only paid $385 for it.

Thank you! I know mine would've gotten really bad, but I made my hubby pick it up and carry it when we were in that park lol. Then once we got to the hall there were little loops and buttons that made it all one length, but boy was it heavy! I loved it and loved wearing it, but I was so relieved when I was able to take it off! My hubby is only about 5'6 himself so I had to do some careful planning with my shoes so as to not be taller than him!
AnieLies, your dress is gorgeous. I love the corset type back, thinking back I think I should've done a back like that. Maybe I wouldn't have had to wear the torture device that was sold as lingerie underneath!

You'd love this then. I didn't even bother wearing a bra. I also don't have huge boobs so it wasn't a big deal. But there was no way I was dealing with a bra and corset like ties. No way Jose!
Oh man that would've been so nice! The underwire in mine came out and was stabbing me all night. The photographer actually got a shot of me digging in the front of my dress trying to pull it up and make it stop stabbing me. I was like oh yeah, that's nice!

Haha I have huge boobs and I didn't have to wear a bra with mine anyways because all the upper part of the dress was boned and it was a snug fit so it was ok. Lol I wish my train would have buttoned up, when hubby and I were doing our first dance he kept standing on my train lol it was terrible!

Lucky! You had straps though, with my style dress I would've been so afraid mine would pop out lol. They were DD's at the time, so not ginormous like when I was nursing, but larger lol. Last thing I needed (and last thing anyone wanted to see for that matter lol) was to flash everybody on my wedding day! Oh man can you imagine!?
Congrats PrincessAri! Yep like Aleyah said upload your pics to www.photobucket.com and then select the code that has the [ img ] in front and behind it and then paste it and you should be good to go.
