Ok- my dinner tonight!
Cheese Soup
1 bunch of green onions (or 1.5 small white onions chopped small)
1 stick margarine
1 cup of celery
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup grated carrots
2 cans of cream of potato (substitute whatever cream of's you have. I added one small potato chopped up to sub for the flavor)
Few dashes of Tabasco
Pepper
Parsley
Salt
8 oz grated cheese (something yellow)
8 oz sour cream
1 cup sherry or white cooking wine
Saute onions, celery and margarine. Add chicken broth and carrots (and potatoes- if applicable) . Cook until tender. Add cream of soups. Add spices to taste (I don't add any extra salt and like a lot of tabasco). Add grated cheese- do not let soup boil from this point out. When ready to serve add sour cream and sherry.
Enjoy!
(Obviously, this soup is really easy to substitute with. I rarely have celery or the appropriate cream of soup. And I add potatoes. Just play and enjoy!)

Haha!
Dear Ada,
Hi, you may remember me as I was in the forum you frequented for playing dress-up with a virtual doll. However, our thread in the forum was mature beyond its years and offered many yummy options for dinner, lunch, breakfast and even for that sweet tooth. We discussed everything from cookbooks to vinegar. It was amazing.
However, recently we have felt your departure- and it stings. While we are sure it's nothing personal, we just miss you. Sometimes Nemaine cries and we have to make her stop. Sometimes I'm craving cheese and just need someone to talk to. And Mini, well, she's just needy and wants you back- plain and simple.
So Ada, we hope that you come back to us. We didn't do anything to you and the doll looks better. Not great, but better. She can eat again, since the collagen injection in her lips has gone down- this aligns with our forces of being amazing in the kitchen. And Layla, well, it's been a couple of pages and like I stated above- we're needy. And I really wish I could be vegan so I love being able to look over your recipes and create my own vegan (or at least vegetarian) meal.
Please come back or we may just threaten to post ONLY cheese-less and meat-filled recipes.
Sincerely,
Dahly, Nemaine, Minibrutus

Got Ada! She said she's not coming back until they offer a more mature face 0_o But she says she misses everyone and her bimbo too. Haven't gotten a response from Layla yet. Nemaine, you can have their contact info if you get on myspace!! Muhahahahaha I know you hate it

I have a myspace but I rarely ever use it- I'm a facebook kind of gal. It's so much better!

Facebook is totally turning into a blue version of myspace though.
That being said i still enjoy it <_<

T_T I'm a hypocrite.
OH OH OH.
I COMPLETELY RUINED SALMON YESTERDAY. I was feeling really ill so my gramma came up to take care of me. What she didn't say was that she was as sick as I was! Since we were both sick but she's also old, I basically got the short straw and went to cook dinner. We had some frozen salmon (I bought it for fud) and some mahi mahi (It sort of rained from the freezer, from back behind all the shelves of my mom's fake chocolatecicles, not-realcookies and liecake). So grandma decided she wanted the mahi and I decided I wanted the salmon.
Slow cooked the salmon but I was addled in the head (thank you medicine), so instead of CHECKING the danged fish after 45 minutes, I decided it "looked" uncooked and kept it in. For another 30. at 200degrees higher than it should be. WORST. FISH. EVER.
my gramma wanted her mahi done quickly so that got its own fancy pan. She told me she wanted it "medium" (I thought that was mostly tuna?) but didn't eat it till it was cooked to well done.
The uh, rice cooker rice was good though T_T
What's been your worst culinary silly-up recently?

Let's see- the last time I made cookies it was a bit of a disaster. They were yummy, white chocolate chip and craisins but my oven really tried to screw me over. The edges were burning, the middle was still raw, the ones in the middle of the pan were doing something totally different. THen I went and dropped my best batch on the floor.
I picked them up, dusted them off and kept on going.

Definitely my ravioli that I tried to make. I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread. But basically I had gotten all excited about making pasta but I didn't have a pasta roller. So I decided to roll it by hand. I made the dough, but it was too sticky to work with and I had to add more flour to be able to roll it out by hand. It got to the consistency of cookie dough rather than nice, wet silky pasta dough, but i rolled it anyway. Then when I went to put the ravioli's together I had waaaay too much filling and the pasta was so thick that they were like big flour balls with a little filling in the center, which leaked out when I cooked them anyway because the dough wasn't sticky enough anymore anyway. I ate them still.... but they sucked. And I had a whole giant mixing bowl of filling left. Luckily it was yummy pumpkin-ricotta-sun dried tomato filling an I froze it all. I've been putting it on pizzas with chevre and pesto about once every two weeks trying to use it up.

LOL those are awesome.
Minty I think i mussed a missed that story the first time--I'm so sorry! XD but I giggled anyway.
I think the worst thing I ever screwed up though was broiled potatoes. We like them a lot so for one meal I decided I'd make them (I was like.... 14? I can't remember).
So I totally didn't realize you have to BOIL the potatoes before you put them in the oven, and I ALSO forgot to liberally oil up the pan. I ended up with hard, white, THINGS.
They were TOTALLY inedible. It was awful!
Another time I had a cookie craving. This was about a month ago; I was moving out of my apartment.
I remembered seeing those 3 ingredient "fire" peanut butter cookies on the net, but I couldn't find the recipe. (does anyone have it?) So instead I mushed up about 3 tbsp of peanut butter, 3 of flour and a handful of sugar, patted it around in a bowl a bit and made about 9 cookie "patties".
...they.... were... awful.
Satisfied my need for food and sugar all in one go, though.

I are dead. Checked my bimb and think I have a bug so I ended up on forums today anyway.
got a big book on miso today from the lib. approx. 200 recipes. Mini, if you need more ideas, let me know, haha.
ciao.

Home, but not cooking. This is how lazy I am. I have some fresh veggies to use up. But I didn't want to make a whole meal.... so I ordered pizza, fried up some chard and told myself I was having a healthy dinner.

Offline

I bought a think of extra-firm tofu just cause. But now I don't know what to do with it- I've never cooked with it before. Any ideas and/or tips?

Awwwwww.... but don't you know? Pizza is GOOD for you!!!
or so said school wisdom (a class forced upon us middleschoolers, it aimed to get people to be safe if they were latchkey kids and eat breakfast. According to my then-teacher, Pizza is the Ultimate Breakfast Food!!! *&*).
Dahly--I'm sorry I have no idea how to cook tofu!!!
if Layla were here I bet she'd have a hundred bajillion recipes for you ;-;

Oh: This is something that has been requested in my family about 10 times in the last three weeks. This does not particularly mean it is fantastic, but more that it is plain enough to go into rotation and it doesn't involve chicken (my fam gets sick of it) or beef (my mother won't eat it, thus why we get sick of chicken. Apparently fish is not an option).
VEGETARIAN SANDWICHES (nom nom nom!)
Ingredients for 4 sandwiches
--1 roasted bell pepper (green, red--it doesn't matter. To easily roast a pepper, rub a little olive oil on it and pop it into a 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how soft you want it).
--1 medium zuchinni (or one half of a large zuchinni)
--1 medium onion
--a handful of white button mushrooms, or a meaty mushroom if you'd prefer
--nice sub rolls
--a creamy, sliced sandwich cheese (Havarti so far is my favorite, but provolone is also good).
STEPS:
--Thinly slice (don't chop or dice!) the onion so that you have full circles, or half circle, strips of onion. Slice up the mushrooms nice and thin. Fry in some olive oil or in some butter mixed with vegetable oil (to prevent burning the butter) until the mixture is browned.
--While the onions are browning, thinly slice your zuc. horizontally (so you get big long strips rather than small round ones). I do this by first cutting the zuc in half horizontally, putting the zuc on its cut end and then slicing through the zuc. longways. Throw away the last horizontal slice (it will just be skin anyway. Skin is great on the sides, but you don't want a piece of just skin).
--After the onions and mushies are brown, set them aside. In the pan, fry your zucs, lightly, on both sides. Basically al lyou are doing is very slightly softening the squash so that it softens the rest of the way in the oven--NOT so that it becomes mealy in the oven!
--Once the zuch is finished, Assemble your sandwiches (on an ungreased cookie sheet)! Put down a zuchinni strip, a strip of pepper, and a few forkfuls of the onion mixture on every sub roll. What you have cooked up should be enough for 3 very very stuffed or 4 very stuffed sub rolls.
--pop cheese on top of all the veggies.
--Stick these sandwiches in a preheated, 400 degree oven. Since all your veggies are cooked through (or mostly cooked through), you just have to wait until the cheese is melted (this is generally perfect for the zuc unless it was a giant zuc!).
--Take out of the oven, squish together if they fell apart in the oven and enjoy!
This recipe is very loosely based on a sandwich my mom used to enjoy getting from "The Italian Oven" restaurant. She often asked for them to put chicken on it--so feel free to add cooked meats or sliced lunchmeats to the sandwiches before popping them in the oven.
