Alright. So I'm a Halo addict. I play all the time. I play more than I sleep. I play while I'm asleep. I met my spouse on Halo. And I know plenty of other girl gamers, but I want to know. Do we all get hit on? And any guys out there, is there a reason why you constantly hit on a girl that's in your party? Whether or not you know her age, name, where she lives, or what she looks like?
I mean, my 12-year-old sister plays with me, and she's gotten hit on by ppl over 30.
Why are gaming girls targets to such pigs?

I dont know. . but everyone is more approachable through the internet

Never got hit on playing Halo... usually they think I'm a little boy... then I tell them I'm female and they're like, "Oh, ok... well still... LEARN TO PLAY!"
btw, did I mention even though I play all the time I'm not that great at it.

It's all right. I wasn't at first either.
I've gotten better over the years. Family thing for me. Me, my bro, my sis, and dad play, so I had to get good to beat my brother. Rivalry and such.

I've also gotten hit on when they thought I was a little boy. <.< Believe me, it's still creepy.

I don't get hit on when I play online games. Maybe they think I'm a dude?

One of my friends and another one of his friend pretended to be chicks playing on of those games. Maybe Counterstrike and they came out with some of the stupidest statements and the guys still doted on them even though if they had been guys they would have gotten so many names for those kind of comments. It was quite amusing.

i never really got into games because im just not good at them but i think they do that alot on WoW

I used to play online multiplayer games (nowadays addicted to GTA 4
) and boys always tried to hit on me just for being a girl....

I play World of warcraft and have been for 3 years now. Im one of the "leaders" for one of the "guilds" (Aka a gathering of like 200 people). I get hit on sometimes , mainly by strangers. All the others treat me like a princess
And why we are targetted? Well. The percentage of men vs women who plays games are very different. Guess they just go for the first they see cause theyre afraid theyll never find one again hahaha .

another reason that women are hit on ... and to why boys pretend to be female in multi player games is to see what they can gain out of it ... I was a Runescape adict for nearly a year, someone I know pretended to be female cause the boys would give them things inc game money etc ... and often the boys that are looking for "gaming" females are hoping to manipulate their online partners into giving them things also
... in my experiences

Where have I been?!
On my WoW server our population is about 40% female so women don't get hit on or harassed very often. I think the only time I've ever really been hit on is from a fellow guildie and we were just messing around waiting for a raid to start. I've never received anything free because I'm a female...
Am I just oblivious or something? lol

Yeah, it's like being a girl is all it takes to get hounded on. <.< i could be a Nazi or a total creep and they don't care.

MMOs aren't so bad. I hardly get hit on playing FFXI, but when it comes to 1st person shooters...

I like playing Halo -- But not by myself. I like to play at LAN parties or with a buddy.
I used to play Conquer Online starting when I woke up til when I went to sleep, only to sleep a few hours and repeat the routine. I was also a GuildWars junkie as well as random other games that I find.
In all honesty, sometimes I use getting hit on to my advantage on some games. People that are OHH so googly eyed over your pixels and are willing to buy you really expensive armor... Hey. I'm in.

I play a MMORPG called City of Heroes
I also play the PS3, usually multiplayer with the bf, hoping to get a Wii soon though. I don't play games half the amount I used to though, I have no idea how I managed to find the time then!!

The internet is a perfect place for pervs. Girls MUST be very careful.

I hate guys who think that girls shouldn't play pc games like them. They're so stupid! And when you ask them why they think that you shouldn't play pc games they say like: "but... you're a GIRL."
Yes, I'm a girl, and so what?

I'm addicted to Halo too, like the thread starter. But I do keep it a secret from my family and friends.
It's completely normal to like a supposed 'boys' game and enjoy fashion at the same time. I don't know if any of you have ever seen one of those 'the popular girl secretly likes Star Trek' scenarios.
Awesomeness.

Getting hit on!? Wow, that is something I've never even heard of in an FPS!
I've always thought most boys online seem horrified at the idea of being beaten by a girl - and thus the shouting and slagging begins...

i used to "play" phantasy star online, and i use the word loosely because i had so many high leveled admirers i never had to do anything. they would run me through levels or just buy me new equipment. everytime i logged in i would find some new gift waiting for me in my room.
i'll admit it was fun for a while, until some guy started hanging out in my room all the time and following me around from server to server. when he got my xbox live gamertag somehow, (you're not supposed to be able to do that in this game) he started following me in other games i played. luckily i had huge base of male friends in various games who all ganged up on him until he went away. i was actually afraid to even talk to him anymore because he said if he could find out my gamertag, he could find my name, and then my address.
oh yeah, and i got a marriage proposal in both wow and the fps timesplitters. on wow, my bf logged in his lvl 70 and killed the guy over and over, and on timesplitters i actually ended up being good friends with the guy.

You ever get a guy hitting on you and you shoot him down so he starts calling you names ?
I get it all the time...Just the other day had some dude saying all sorts of crap to me...I'm like dude I'm just here to play not to hook up...Kept shooting him down...Finally he started calling me "Fat" and "Ugly" and an assortment of other profanities...
I'm lucky enough that I've got a ton of cool people on my friend's list that I usually never have to play with strangers that'll treat me like a piece of meat...

i got that once in timesplitters and i got so fed up that i told the guy, "Next match, I will kill you, and only you, 20 times in a row." then i unplugged my mic. next match, i did exactly that, except for once his friend jumped in front of him, and i accidentally killed him instead, but i still got my 20 kills on that jerk. that shut him up.

Lol...It's always great to put people like that in their place...After matches I go "Wow...You guys got pwned by a chick...How sad for you"
Team kill's no fun...I'm not very good at distinguishing between a friendly and bad guy...Especially when I'm "In the zone"...I just see a head pop by my scope and have to pull the trigger...Let god sort 'em out lol
