I am an American, and that is certainly not how I think. I can't speak for everyone and the people I know personally are not like that. I'm sure that if I knew where everyone else lived, I could come up with some equally embarrassing things, no?

It's not totally untrue though. There's a saying: Americans start wars to learn geography.

There's not a big focus here on geography. In many European countries, not having a geography department in a university would be like not having a history department. Geography is very important, but it's often a department that's the first to go when there are budget cuts.

I think the map is funny, and I'm American.
