I was a girl scout but that was a long time ago. I was first a daisy then a brownie, if anyone knows what those are.

Hehe I'm a girl scout still! Been involved in the whole movement for the last 10 years i think. I started off in rainbows then moved to Brownies, on to Scouts and now Explorers, where i am a Young Leader for a Cub pack and i'm involved in my Local Scout Band!

I was a junior girl scout when I was 12. I hated it. Our troop leaders never let us do anything, all we did at meetings was literally just sit and do nothing. We never did any kind of activities.

i used to be one

Girl Scouts was my life when I was in school. At one point, I either aided in a troop, went to a planning meeting or attended my own troop meetings everyday of the week. I started in Juniors and went though Seniors. When I got my Gold Award, my parents got me the lifetime membership. I stopped being active in college, but I've been thinking about getting more involved to meet people since I've moved.

I was a girl scout. I had to stop before becoming a cadet because i had waaaaaaaaayyyyy too many activities in high school. I really enjoyed th eexperience and look forward to becoming a troop leader when my life settles down a bit.
i'm reading that some of you didn't get to do some of the more out-doorsy stuff. bummer. My parents were also the troop leaders for my brithers boy scout troop so anytime there was a similar badge to be had we all did it that week. I remember some of the camping and a car care one in particular. I also got to go to the Girl Scout camps. They were fun too! Anyway, if you didn't get to do it, become a leader and do some out doors stuff with your troop! what better way to get girls interested in hiking and camping and things like that.

I agree. I went to a Girl Scout residence camp, and those are some of my best memories. We also did at least one camping trip a year, and even with the littler girls we did cookouts and campfires and outdoor training if not tent camping. In fact, my weekend job of teaching nature and outdoor skills in a park is entirely because of my scouting experience.
If there's someone out there in a troop that doesn't do the type of stuff they want to do, I'd suggest finding another troop first instead of quitting entirely. For some reason, people think they can't do that or assume all troops are the same and it's Scouts that's not fun. In high school, I was in a troop made entirely of girls that I'd met through Scouts. We didn't go to the same school or even live that close to each other, but we had a blast and got along well. We still keep in touch, 10 yrs later.

I was a scout from K-12!
My troop was extra catty though and made me super depressed. I don't miss it one bit. I really don't know why I stayed so long.

I was a scout for 11 years. Got my silver, wasn't organized enough for the gold. I was also an adult scout for several years, and worked at a lot of different camps. I'm not involved now, but if I have a daughter, I'm leaping right back in. I completely credit girl scouts with a lot of who I am now. I wish I could support boy scouts with the same enthusiasm (I have a son) but until they drop the whole "gays are unclean" thing, I can't support them. I'll need to find another scouting type of organization for my son to enjoy.

Isn't the "gays are unclean" stuff because the boyscouts kind of got taken over/bought out by the mormons?
I'm not sure though

Haven't heard that, but I did have plenty of friends in high school (and high school was, for me, about 20 years ago) that dropped boy scouts because they felt pressured by the Christians in the group to be more Christian (or at least, more obviously and vocally Christian).
Do Mormons consider themselves Christian? I suddenly realize I have no idea if they do or not.

Haha yes! I used to be a spark, a brownie, and a girl guide. It was fun - I really enjoyed it pretty much up to the last year. The last year the leaders were new and super boring, lol, all we did was hear historical stories and do stuff like knitting. We didnt even go camping - LAME
