Right now, I'm using this stuff called Acne Complex by Murad and so far so good. Makes my skin feel soft and look hydrated. Then, again everyone's skin type is different, so while one product may work for one, it may not for others.
I agree to make sure your hands are clean before touching your face. Don't pick at your face and drink plenty of water.

i just dont wear makeup (well except eyeliner), i stay out of the sun, try to drink a lot of water, not to stress out about stuff ! the more you worry about your acne the more stressed youll get and the more blemishes! there shouldnt be any need for moisturizers if youre drinking the right amount of water each day, the key is keeping things OFF your face.

There is this kinda silly thing, but it works 100%!!!
First, eat healthy, drink lots of water, take vitamins...
The magic part:
Yeast mask. 2 times a day, 10 mins. In 2 weeks, your skin is perfect.
You get the yeast mask by mixing 25grams of FRESH yeast with a lil bit of warm (not to warm, not to cold) milk or water. It's granny's recepie, but it's magic!!!

I wrote about this already in make up tips thread but i can repeat it in here.....
the best way really is to go to a dermotologist. u say it's expensive, but between all the things u try that don't work, it is better to invest a little in success.
But, if you can't go to the doc, then try moisterizing your face.
I have tried every product under the sun. Everything suggested in ere i have tried...but nothing worked. not even the birth control, unfortunately. but some people hav varying levels of sensativity.
Acne is a medical problem, it is not because u dont wash your face good enough or because u eat too much pizza. Your skin can't properly shed dead skin cells. hence the pores get clogged.
So, why not make that skin happy and moisterized. Use a moisterizing face wash for sensative skin and a nice moisterizer that helps reduce red marks like Aveeno. Do this once in the morning and once at night and reap the benefits that healthy cared for skin can give u.
Email me if u have further ?s. I don't mind giving an additional help on this. I suffered for years trying everything til i found what worked. So i guess that makes me an expert on stubborn sensative skin.
;O)

i agree not all skin is the same and what works for us or your friends may not work for you.
the one product i really believe in is mario badesceu drying cream, but your best bet is to go to aesthetician and they'll usually let you know what type of skin type you need to take care of. i went to mine and got facials about once a month for half a year and i don't see her anymore but i got used to realizing what my skin needed. I tend to have dry skin so i don't usually wash my face in the morning i just let my natural oils work. and I tend to pay extra attention when i'm having my period. you can also pm me if you have further questions

Yeah foundation is a HUGE culprit!! I stopped using liquid foundation and bought bare minerals and it is AWESOME. you can sleep in it because it is just minerals, and it seems to clear your face up just wearing it. andit looks better than any makeup i have ever worn. you can order it online i think.

I agree with all of the water advice, it'll flush the toxins out of your body. As an aesthetician (or faciaist) my favorite at home product is Proactive. Just a word of warning though, start out by onl using t at night for a week or so, and ALWAYS use a moisturizer (the highest quality you can afford. I like Demalogica's Skin Smoothing Cream). If you don't your skin will become too dry, thus producing more sebum (oil) which will in turn plug up your pores, leaving you back at square one.

anyone care for a challenge?

I disagree with that. Wash your hands thoroughly first and use your fingers. They'll be cleaner than any brush if you just wash them first and after.

You are very right about the stress. When I am stressed my blemishes go crazy! I hate that.

Yeah brushes and sponges are only good if you clean them every time which most people don't.
I use clinique products now as they have a good range of antibacterial stuff, including a body spray which is good for reaching spots on chest and back area.
Although my spots have all gone now thanks to medication, I still have very dirty pores.
What do you guys recommend for pore cleaning? Have any of you ever tried microdermabration?
Amy x
Never tried it but I heard it works wonders. I also see infomercials with that chick from a soap opera for a handheld device that does the microdermabration. It would be much cheaper than getting it done professionally.

I went to the doctor about my acne (im 16)
it wasnt particuarly bad but i'd had it since i was about 12ish.
he put me on an antibiotic which i'll be changing again soon. It has worked really well, although it took a long time for it to start clearing up (i think ive been on it for around 2 to 3 months now). if your acne isnt clearing up as you'd expect it to (it is inevitable that you will get spots when you are a teenager) you should go to the doctor, he'l either put you on cream or tablets (i was on tablets coz i had a bit of acne on my back and it would have been a nightmare to put cream on it).
I'm really glad i went to the doctors.
he also said that a bit of sun for the skin is good aswell, helps clear up your spots.
also lots of water and fruit i have found works wonders, spesh fruit with antioxidants in (if thats what their called) blackberries and blueberries contain a lot i think.

Proactive didn't work for me. and the prescriptions didn't either. the doctor recomended HSN's Continuously Clear system. You can check it out at hsn.com.
It works great for me, I have very oily skin, but every skin type is different
sidenote: they have a youth and adult formula
