Reading the forum I notice a lot of Bimbos have trouble with it (at least at first). So, I hope it's ok to post kind of a system.
First, you play 3 reds and 1 green. The right position is probably the red one, and the wrong position is probably the green one. So, depending on the result, go with colors from the fist row, and introduce next colors, one by one (eg. orange, orange, orange, green). If you never use 2 new colors in the row, you should preety much have a control on whats going on. This way, you are shure to get all 4 right colors, and after that it's a piece of cake to put them on the right position.
I hope this helps a bit

i always just choose 4 reds, see if any of those are needed, then all green, then all blue and so on. then i try to arrange the 4 i know will be used.

Oh, God, I'm sorry, it's my english, ain't as good... But let me try again:

OK, so first I play 3 red and 1 green. And nothing there. Great! 2 Colors eliminated.
Next row, I repeat 3-1 combination (3 blues, 1 yellow), and it says 1 color right but on the wrong position. Ok, so I'm guessing the color is yellow, cose if it was blue, there would be much bigger chanse that it is on the right position.
So, in 3. row I go Yellow, Orange, Orange, Orange and it says 2 colors right, none on the right possition. From this, I can tell that yellow is NOT on the 1. position, and orange has to be on the 1. position.
So, I play Orange, Yelow, Purple, Purple and it sais I got 3 right, right positions. Ok, so now I am 100% shure that the combo starts with Orng, Yell and has one purple eigther at 3 or at 4. All that is left for me is try to play with 1 more yellow (at 3 or 4), so I go:
Orng, Yell, Purp, Yell - all 4 coulors are there, but 2 are on the wrong places.
So, what you got to do is switch 3 and 4 - and there you have it. The right combo.
Once you try it out, you'll see it's realy easy when you crack "the point of view"on mastermind

thats pretty much how i do it also. it takes up a lot of your chances, but you will most likely get it right by the 6th or 7th try.

I can usually get the mastermind completed in about 30 seconds.
Here is what I do:
1. 4 reds. If it says i got any right, I put that number in the next spot.
2. xreds, the rest should be green
3. since you know how many reds you have in their are correct, the other number should be for the green.
4. Pay attention to the gray and white marks! Consider this: when you have 1 red and 3 green and it says you have 1 in the right spot and one in the wrong spot, it obviously means that your red is WRONG and a green goes there.
5. Keep this pattern up until you have all 4 spots.
This can really minimize your guessing and thinking.
My only question is, if the money (or is it BA?) you get is based on time spent or number of trials. I always seem to do well though- something like 72 last time.

The way I've done it was do red, green, blue and yellow then guess which are the correct colours randomly.
This is much more helpful and has a higher chance of winning! I'll have to try this when I can play Mastermind again! Thanks!

I do like heatherbear...I go through all of the colors so I know how many of each are there.

For some wierd reason I can only play mastermind once. Is that normal...I used to be able to play it twice in a row?

I usually put two colors up at once, and then two random colors up......, I go from there....It gets easier once you are used to playing

i usually put all the colours first..goin up in tries until i have eliminated what's there and what isn't.. and then from there.. it gets alot easier.. after u've kinda played alot, u get really accustomed and thus it then becomes a piece of cake..

I can only play once as well, I thought that was all we were allowed!
I play with two red and two green to start, and then two each of the blue and yellow, then work it out from there.
I usually complete in 6 moves

I do it kinda like this too. I put blue, red, blue, red. Pink, orange, pink, orange. Green, yellow, green, yellow. That way I also know what position something will or wont be. It narrows in down and only takes 3 guesses to do so.

I'm pretty sure it's completely random. You get 10, 20, or 30 BD if you win. It's just random, like the scratch cards, puzzles, and Sort Your Bag games.

I do two red/two green -
then two blue/two yellow.
next I pick 4 orange,
then I know if the last peg is orange or pink and from there it's different each time.
If only games gave me real money...
