Me I think it sad to look so thin and promotes slimming dissorders, but what do you think?
Should they be banned from using them in mags and catwalks e.t.c

I think it's sad... I love watching America's Next Top Model and it makes me mad that Whitney this season is considered plus size, even though she is probably a size 8 or something.
I know that a lot of people are naturally thin. but when size 0 is what is revered, then it can cause feelings of inadequacy in those who are not naturally thin... And that often leads to eating disorders. It's sad. All sizes should be embraced. I know that's very idealistic, but I still believe it.

You can't descriminate against sizes like that.
Some people can't actually help being a size 0 and at the end of the day we're all on a website which judges you by your weight as well as various other vanity things when you do a challenge

yes but if you lose too much you become ill in the game as in real life, I think if you can't help being slim then that's o.k but to slim down by any means should not be incouraged

Did anyone actually say something of the like? I think the OP was trying to make a question, but forgot the question mark. Perhaps you are jumping into conclusions. And you can't really deny that the fashion industry tends to place said body type over others. :3
I personally have nothing against people sized 0, I think all bodytypes are beautiful. But the fact that most runways are dominated by a very, very slim figure is so monotonous! Boring, even. Why can't we see the clothes on different sizes and shapes? I want to see short models, tall models, big models, skinny models...

I'm a model myself (editorial, not commercial) and I frequently have shoots with other models, they always scare me. My hips are a little too big for a model, so I have curves, but all the models I've worked with.. they were completely straight, like little boys!
I don't think thats pretty, but they dominate the runway, I wish designers would use more curvy models, but they dont. And this way we (the curvy ones) are being pressed into working out a lot, eating less etc. just because we don't fit in the clothes!
I'm a size 0 in tops and most dresses and a size 2 in jeans. I don't diet btw, I'm naturally this way, but I'm being pressured on working on my hips.
It's crazy!
I aspire to be a fashion designer one day, after my career as a model has ended, and I will only use models of size 2 and higher x___x just to show them.

If people are naturally like that then well its different, but dieting to be that skinny is crazy
They have no figure its just like a ruler!

My theory is that runway models are mean to be coat hangers for which the clothes to be displayed. And then it's helpful to have an unusual or fierce face and a kicking walk. People go to fashion shows to see clothes mostly, not so much the models. ( don't get mad at me if I offend, this is just a guess. Never been to a fashion show.) Skinnier models show the clothes well without their bodies getting in the way. When my boyfriend and I watch ANTM (well, when I watch it, and he tells me how much he hates Tyra Banks) he always says, these girls are ugly, their too skinny, or have giraffe necks, I always have to remind him, it's not about being pretty or feminine, or attractive to men. It's how you show off the clothes. I hope no one who is amodel gets mad at this, it's just my theory.

Size 0 fashion gets people sick.
And commercial and mass media are playing a huge role.
Sad.

i am size 12 and get a lot more attention then my size 6 friends. big bums are bestestest xx

banned no, but preferred a somewhat larger size....after all you shouldnt tell a girl how slim or fat to be, that's what she must chose for herself, what feels best for her...so less advertising on size 0 and more on larger sizes

Think of it from a clothing designers eyes, you use less money on material for a size 2 than a size 8. The less material you use the more $$$ is saved, and these clothes are samples not actually what is produced for the stores. I think the clothes hanger look does not look good on anyone. Most guys will agree that bones are not attractive. I would like to see curvy, fit models on the runway. I do not see this happening any time soon, unless you are plus size modeling.

i think they're hot :]
people like that exist to make others jealous.
perhaps if it werent for them the obesity problem would be worse because kiddies would have no one to want to look like

fasion is about clothes, if models have curves it will distract from the clothes. yeah models should be realistic, but 'vouge' high fashion is not realistic.
fashion is the extream.
as are those models. i think size 4 (size 0 to the americans) can look unhealthy, but at the same time beautiful to the clothes. i don't agree with the pressure the media puts on girls based on these models ect. but i'm sorry (and i know so many will disagree with me), but i think thiness is sexy. but i know my view is unhealthy. so i would never want my friends to look that way. i wont look that way...i love my breats too much

Yes, but how tall are you, sweetie? When models are size zeroes, at 5'10", they are far too skinny, and usually do have eating disorders which are perpetuated by the industry. There is nothing wrong with being naturally skinny, or with being fit, but there is something wrong with the entire clothing industry rejecting women who are not, and with refusing to use models who are above a size two - whether their weight is their natural one or not. MOST real women are not the smallest size, and it's just silly that the whole of fashion ignores that. The fashion designers and the media that show their work have the responsibility of defining what we view as "beautiful" in our culture, and it's just plain irresponsible to set a standard of beauty that the average woman can only achieve by purging and starving herself. So, the offense is not against you, a naturally tiny woman, but against people who shun those women who are not.

I think they should immediatly run to wendys and order the bacconator and NOT throw it up.

the obesity problem is bad because of parents lack of motivation on their children. Parents should be feeding their children healthy food and getting them involved in extracuricular activities.
Being skinny is great as long as your skinny in a healthy way. If you are hurting your body then it isn't worth it. If you are eatting right and working out and keeping active then thats great. But if your starving yourself then its not worth it. That isn't a good role model for kids.
When I was little we weren't allowed to eat fast food and crap food all the time or sit on our asses all day long playing video games. My parents put me in swimming lessons ever since i was in kindergarten, then once swimming lessons were complete i took bronze medalion and lifesaving and was on a diving and swimming team, I played baseball from grade 1-12, was on the schools soccer team, played recreational hockey in the winter, and volleyball in junior high. I also grew up on the farm so lots of my free time was spent outdoors. Parents need to be involved with there children more and get them involved. Help them make healthy choices early on so they can do it on there own.
I live on my own now (obviously) and rarely do we do take out or eat kraft dinner. Always home cooked healthy meals. It all begins where the heart is.
So greatdj you can pull your head out of your ass and realize that maybe you are the only one thats jealous of the size 0 models.

I don't like the pressure the fashion industry is putting on its models. For most of these women, 0 is not their natural size, and they are forced to have an unhealthy lifestyle.
However, size 0 in itself isn't inherently unnatural, either. For the height that most models are, it's very unusual, but not impossible. My two best friends (twins) in high school were 5'9" and both wore size 0. They got called sticks and anorexic all the time even though (and I knew their eating habits very well) they ate more than some of the guys we knew.

I get it that it's irresponsible to set a standard like that, but now everyone who is naturally thin gets a label of sick and unhealthy.. I'd love to have a bit more curves, not only to have a nicer body, but also to stop the comments I get..
I also think it's horrible what models have to go through to get a job.. It's absolutely unacceptable.. But as I said.. Some people just can't do anything about it ..

if you naturally skinny then theres no prob with it
alot of models are but i dont like it when im walking through the shops with my size 12(aus) fiend with her saying "oh dont you wish you looked like that"
there needs to be more about loving what you were given rather than comparing girls that are totally different

I cant stand it.
