I'm a Democrat and a feminist, but I really don't like Hilary Clinton or her politics... I'm an Obama girl all the way!
What about you?

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!

Offline

This topic could turn out ugly.
That said, I liked Hilary until her campaign started playing dirty. And when she just couldn't seem to stop lying. Now I'm Obama all the way.

Honestly I don't trust or like any of them!

Yeah! He's really inspirational, I think, and I know that that's largely his charisma, but he seems sincerely dedicated to changing the problems with the system, you know? Even if he physically CAN'T do everything he says, I really want a president who will try!
Obaaaaaama!
But seriously, I'd love to hear other points of view! How do people from other countries view Obama and Clinton, anyway?

I've heard that outside the US, Obama has a lot of the "black" vote. But apparently outside the US, "black" is anyone with dark skin. So he's got supporters all over the world, even parts of the middle east.

I voted for Hilary in the Michigan primary, so it doesn't count. I am still for her, but I will vote for Obama if he is the one on the ticket in Nov.
I am just happy that we are less then a year till we get a new president.

lol, my friend said he went to a republican thing on his campus and started chanting, "Four less years, four less years!"

I wonder what McCain supporters think about the Obama-Clinton debate...

Go Obama!

What a dangerous topic. Especially during an election year.
Honestly, I can't put my support behind anyone. I'll be gladly welcoming a change of pace, but I don't like any of the candidates. Obama's got some good ideals. But I'm worried that that's all they are. Hillary knows politics, but she plays the game too much. And I'm disappointed in McCain's complete change in policy on torture just to gain party support.

Here, in Poland, I think people support Obama.
Personally I was for Hilary, but then her campain went in the direction I can not agree with.

It is a very dangerous topic but some one wanted to know what a McCain supporter thought of the Hillary/Obama situation.
I don't like either one. Hillary (don't send me nasty messages)...as a woman she just can't keep her "feelings" under control and crying on tv proved we are not ready for a female president.....what is she gonna do.....get what she wants by shedding tears? No way, that's a huge sign of weakness I don't want in my next president.
And Obama, everything that surrounds him and his wife....not the answer either, Our country is going downhill and this election is just going to make it worse in my opinion.

Hey. Thanks for being willing to step up and voice your opinion in a thread that so far has been mainly Obama-supporters. You bring up some wonderful points.
I'm going to respectfully disagree with you about Hillary's emotionalness being because she's a woman. It's part of her personality, yes, and it's more culturally acceptable for her to express that part of her personality because she's a woman, but I don't think being a woman caused it. That sort of assumption bothers me in the same way as when people assume that a girl who happens to be bad at math is bad at math because she's a girl.
Anyway. Thank you again. It's good to hear more opinions on this sort of stuff.

I am from England and the updates are always on our news....
I think in terms of Hilary Clinton, she would have had a lot of input into what happened and the same views as when Bill Clinton was president so I think she had her chance then to make a difference and they didn't do that much so why would it be different this time?
If Hilary Clinton wins it would be the same as having Bill Clinton in power again.
Offline

Maybe it would be. Maybe it wouldn't. Either way, I'd rather have another Clinton in power than another Bush. I won't get into that, though. It's definitely a sensitive subject.

That's really sexist and I'm quite shocked to hear that in this day and age.
I dislike Hilary, but not because she is a woman, I dislike her because I think she is power hungry and lies.
Many countries have female leaders- New Zealand, for one- Helen Clark. And England was ruled by Margaret Thatcher for years, she was fabulous. A woman can be just as good a ruler as a man and it's unbelievably sexist to say that a woman can't be a president because she is a woman.
If I were you, I'd go do some research about female leaders and try to get some respect for your own gender.

I am a conservative and tend to vote Republican, butI have supported Obama from day one! At first I chose not to support Hillary because of Bill, but now I choose not to support her because of her. She lies, she cries and whines, she manipulates and she is incredibly hypocritical. I don't agree with the above post that we aren't ready for a female leader--I just believe we're not ready for this one in particular. And being married to a president does not give you experience. I'm sorry, it doesn't!
I will admit, though, if she wins the democratic party's nomination, I will cringe and shudder as a I cast my vote for McCain. (Yes, I dislike her and her politics that much.) I just hope he picks a decent running mate. I don't want him for president, but the Bush/Clinton era IS OVER!!

Personally, I think the female gender is absolutally absurd. Whiney, manipulative, hypocritical. Always talking about how they want equal treatment but when it comes right down to it, they'll throw a fit if you don't treat them differently on account of the contents of their pants. They don't want to be equal, they want to be special, just like any other group of people that's ever been opressed.
Buuut, ya know. That's a different argument entierly, really, and being a feminist I don't think you'll put any weight in things like that anyway.
But, I don't think Chantilly was saying that all females cant keep their feelings under control, but that Hilary herself can not and as she is so far the only female canidate for president we've had, which makes her currently the best qualified for first female president, that her inadiquacy shows that the county is not right now ready for a female leader. Not ready now, as in we may be in the future, so who knows in 4 years.
I hate this Hilary/Obama bull. Both of them are going to get voted for majorly because of the fact that they're both controversial and firsts. Neither are qualified for poop.
I say we burn the constitution and hire bill up again. His infidelity has nothing to do with presidancy, and he did the most good we'd seen in a while.

I'm not the OP and maybe I missed a joke, but...

LULZ. Yes, the evil womenfolk! Talk about archaic stereotypes... But it's okay, since I find men equally as chick and obnoxious.

im an obama girl but Im a independent voter so I dont belong too any political party.
I liked hilary until her and her husband started playing dirty politics then also at the debates she never can answer the direct questions. She always gets attitude and says something sarcastic too say all the time.

Regardless of who you support or your party affiliation (or lack thereof--I personally enjoy being an independent too, Diax) I want to encourage everyone who is old enough to to get out and vote. If your state hasn't held its primary, vote in it! And if you aren't registered yet (especially if you will be 18 by Novemeber), get registered. Its quick and easy. I know in Texas all you do is pick up a form at the post office and mail it in, no stamp required. You can check out www.declareyourself.com to get more registration info. We can't make a change if we don't speak up!

In UK, I think it might be largely Obama. It was probably 50/50 until Clinton started trying to use Obama's race against him, but I didn't like her in the first place because I found it creepy that Bill would be first lady 0_o
