mark speight killed himself because he was the prime suspect in helping his girlfriend to overdose and eventually die
she overdosed on sleeping pills and cocaine and was found in a bath
not the type of role models for childrens tv to be honest.

since i don't know who this guy is i wanna honor the late great heath ledger.
he was the sexiest man in movies, and he will be missed.

Eh. Mark Speight went on a 24 hour drugs romp with his girlfriend. They took Cocaine, drank strong alcahol and popped on sleeping-pills. then his girlfriend (not even knowing what she was doing) ran a bath full of scalding water and then fell in it. She then passed out and died. It's their own fault. He had money, a good caree, he was able to go places considering he had been a childrens TV presenter for 10 years. They brought it on themselves. What goes around, comes around.

Wow heavy post!
The girlfriend's death was 'Death by Misadventure' and the late Mr. Speight was not responsible in any way. He was taken in for initial questioning but released without charge.
She was the love of his life, his soulmate and it sounds to me like he didn't know how to live without her. He will be sadly missed. My daughter loved watching his shows and he inspired her to get creative on a number of occasions.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he rest in peace.

I have no sympathy for drug users, lets hope the children that watched their shows don't decide to follow there example and start using drugs too, to me thats the only legacy they left.
One of drug abuse.

He was my favorite tv presenter and a wonderfully talented artist who I really admire, but just because I'm not old enough to have degrees and a job and stuff doesn't mean I'm so weak minded that I'll copy everything my idols do, and I'm sure many people my age agree. Also, drugs never once influenced his work on tv in any way, and so many kids still don't know he was into this stuff.
Remember, reliance on drugs is an addiction which sometimes even willpower cannot stop. People can't just condemn drug addicts, they have to realise that it's an illness, and they are victims as well as criminals. And yes, maybe they're victims of themselves, but they're victims nonetheless.
I for one will try and remember him as the cheery and talented tv presenter who always put a smile on my face, rather than just another drug addict
R.I.P Mark Speight

I used to love watching SMart, and when I was younger I obviously never knew about his drug addiction. That's the way I'm choosing to remember him, as the fun TV presenter who inspired me to make things out of papier mache and sellotape on rainy weekends.
We've learnt now that he made some bad decisions in life, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he and Natasha both died tragically young, leaving behind devasted families and friends. May they both rest in peace.

I love Mark Speight. He was a fantastic artist who inspired hundreds of children to pursue art.
He was a fantastic TV presenter and I will always choose to remember the man he was before the drugs. May he rest in peace.

Do you know people who are addicted to drugs? Or people that you like/care about that are addicted?

If she does, she doesn't know about it or she doesn't like them anymore.
I have a friend... well, had, because she recently died of a heroin overdose.
But I still like her and choose to remember the good things about her because she was a good person.
Don't be so judgmental, Shelly35/the person formerly known as Sluttyshelly.

I loved watching SMart when I was little
He was always my favourtie presenter on there and such a talented artist
It's a tragedy what has happened.
He inspired me and many other young people to pursue art throughout their lives and he will be greatly missed.
Wether he took drugs or not doesnt not change the impression he left with many children of a sunny positive man and an amazing artist
RIP

I must say mark was a fantastic artist but it was wasn't a suprise that he did turn to drugs
he had a ongoing job and loads of money but he wasted it all on crack and coke i feel sorry for his family but other that
it was his own fault for taking drugs?

IT isn't a suprise because a number of celebs are taking unneeded amounts of drugs right now
AND now i'm not suprised when good celebs are turning to drugs or in marks case suicide

Offline

and what's wrong with taking drugs? You and many others couldn't live their lifes without drugs.

mark was a great artist and a fab children presenter it is such a waste of a life he will be missed by many children and adults it raises the question why was no one there to help in instead the papers do what they always do and pushed another great erson over the edges may you rip mark
