serious question how and when do the game days change

a good way to save money is when a goal tells you to rent a flat or house then do so but when your on the next level then leave your apartment. That way you still pass the level but you dont have to pay for your apartment everyday. The only problem is you dont get the ba.

if you buy a place do you get the money back if you leave it? does that mean you sell it?
