Engaged!

For this contest, I'd like you all to think of your dream proposal (or alternatively, your real-life one, for those who've gone through it already), and tell me about it! Some ideas:

Tell us a little bit about your fiance! Where did you go? How did it happen (or if you did the proposing, what did you do) ? Was it expected? What was your reaction? And (of course), what were you wearing? If you want, post a photo of your real engaged selves, or an inspiration picture. smile

Rules:
* Edit or non-edit
* Maximum 1 outfit (or two if you want to show your fiance as well)
* No stealing, give credit where due if you edit
*48 hours
* Hair and makeup count (romantic fancy dinner proposal and you're wearing trashy clothes and goth makeup? hmmm...pics/explanation or it didn't happen! big_smile )
*Not having a description won't hurt you, but having a great story will definitely help!
* Banners for the winners- the # will depend on how many submit.

Good Luck!

My (real-life) example:

Last May my boyfriend took me on a date to a nice fondue restaurant. After eating, we went for a walk through campus. The funny part of the story:  I was kinda expecting him to propose on this day (just before my graduation) and was very excited.  When we walked up to the iconic campus building where we met 4 years ago, I saw a long row of candles going up the steps. He pointedly ignored them as we walked up the stairs.  Looking down, I saw that the candles spelled "I <3 U".  And there was a huge bouquet of roses at the bottom of the steps!  By this point I was REALLY confused-- my boyfriend is NOT that romantic type at all.  And there was a crowd of Korean students with cameras below who I didn't know... he always hinted that a private thing would be best for us.  As it turns out, he was just trying to get inside the (locked) building!  We actually came very close to crashing another couple's proposal that was scheduled at the same time and didn't know it!  Giving up trying to get into the building, he lead me behind the building to a pretty area full of trees and statues and asked me to marry him in the moonlight smile

The dress I was wearing looked a lot like this one, except instead of pink, the top was blue/green. And no fishnets or flowery headband either, I just thought it made the Nine's outfit look better! On my profile, the building he proposed at is my background smile

On August 13, 2008, Troy and I said "I love you" to each other for the first time.  Ever since, that date has been very special to both of us.

I had absolutely no idea that August 13, 2011 would be the day of our proposal.  Troy had all but convinced me that something was up for my birthday dinner on August 27th. I fell for the ruse completely.

We had plans to spend the day together at Universal Orlando and so after a quick lunch following some routine errands, we headed off to the park.  Looking back, it would seem that the universe was conspiring to make this day nearly perfect.  Even the rain was kept to a minimum. Every staff encounter was perfect, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter wasn't too crowded, and the clouds kept the temperatures from being too oppressive.  The only thing we missed was meeting Capt. America - the rain cancelled our third attempt of the day.

Since I had a few gift cards to finish up, we planned on having dinner at The Cheesecake Factory (my favorite restaurant).  The rain started drizzling around 5pm and neither of us was very hungry so we decided to leave Islands of Adventure and walk over to Universal Studios.  It started to sprinkle harder, so after one lap we decided to head for the exit and get to the parking garage.

We took a different route to the Mall at Millenia and ended up taking a few "wrong" turns because, as it would turn out, we were ahead of schedule.  Once we parked and walked up to the restaurant, it appeared like it would be a long wait.  Troy told me it would be 30-40 minutes, which was fine.  Of course, when the pager buzzed after only a 10 minute wait, I just figured that it was the universe continuing with the perfect karma of the day.  We had a great table, which was for four people (oddly) and there was an empty two-top next to it.  Our waiter was fantastic and just made it a great dining experience.  I still had no clue.  In fact, Troy was laying it on really thick about something special happening on August 27th (an early 30th birthday dinner with friends).

All day Troy had been very insistent on wanting to get dessert.  So we ordered our desserts and Troy's nerves must have kicked into overdrive, but he never showed it (cherry cheesecake for him and a goblet of fresh strawberries with whipped cream for me).  The waiter brought out dessert.  He put Troy's cheesecake in front of him and placed a Vermont Teddy Bear in front of me.  For a split second, I was like "I ordered strawberries, not a teddy bear."  Then I saw the bear (named CF) wearing a t-shirt that said "Will You Marry Me?" and the ring was around his neck.  Troy was already on one knee and unclasping the ring to slip on my finger.  It was all a blur, although the clasp got stuck!  The whole restaurant cheered.  I was alternating between smiling, shaking and crying.  My best friend (and now Maid of Honor) Lara appeared and snapped photos, while her boyfriend shot the video.  They sat with us for a few minutes.  I called my parents and tried to take a few bites of dessert.

It was indescribably magical and absolutely perfect.

7th of November, the anniversary of which we started dating, I woke to a parade of rose petals in our bedroom-something I teased in films for being somewhat cliched, he'd clearly made a note of it. These petals led towards the kitchen/diner of our flat together and there at our table he was sat, a pile of pancakes each and a bowl of fruit along with a glass of pure orange juice-my favourite breakfast. Though when I started eating this breakfast, I was completely oblivious to the ring box on the table. This he laughed at and had to make point of. When he asked me I just had to tease him myself with our usual joke, "Flip a coin!" I laughed whilst he placed the ring on my finger. That day I woke believing it was just a normal anniversary. Now, we're engaged. Damn it! big_smile

I accept all non-stake challenges and fashion duels big_smile 385 challenges to go before I can level up!

First of all, lovely contest! I haven't been proposed to but this is how I'd love it to be done:

My boyfriend and I had been going out for four years, and for my birthday he surprised me with a trip to Disneyland Paris. I am absolutely Disney mad and he knew it would make me so happy to go back there. We spent an incredible day in the park, then in the evening he said we'd be going for dinner at the Auberge de Cendrillon - this restaurant where you have dinner with all the Princes and Princesses and watch them dance etc. I was so excited as I'd always wanted to go there. I didn't want to over dress so I wore a cute red dress and put a bow in my hair.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted very nicely by Cinderella's mice (obviously people in costumes, not actual mice haha!) and shown to a lovely table right by the fireside, with a perfect view of the dancing area. On the table was a red rose - and I noticed that none of the other tables had one. We ordered our food which was absolutely beautiful and the Princesses each came over to talk to us and it was just magical.

Then, after we had eaten our starter and main course, our desserts were brought to us. I had ordered the 'Cinderella's Glass Slipper' dessert, which was actually for kids but I really wanted it haha! It was set down in front of me, a white chocolate slipper... and at that moment the music suddenly changed to mine and my boyfriend's 'song', and suddenly I noticed on the slipper was a beautiful ring! Before I could say anything, my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed to me, and when I said yes, all the Princes and Princesses cheered and clapped. It was then that I realised he had planned the whole thing with the restaurant. I felt like a real princess and I could not stop smiling!
