For some editors, it may be easier to start your hair color with brown, but changing it to a realistic blonde color may be a challenge! This tutorial shows you how to change it quickly and easily.
The program I used is Photoshop, however, there are similar features in most other programs
Step 1
Select your hair layer with the selection tool
Step 2
Go to enhance on the task menu and click Auto Contrast
Step 3
Go to enhance again then adust color ---> Hue/Saturation and Click on the Colorize tick. This will turn your hair a redish color
Step 4
Change the hue, saturation and lightness. I used Hue 45, Saturation 33, Lightness 40. Levels may vary depending on the darkness and color of the brown.
The same results occur when starting with black and red as well
Also... if it comes out a little off... go to enhance brightness/contrast and play with the levels... less saturation after this will make a lighter blonde.
Hope this helps!

wow awesome! I have had a difficult time myself changing the color right and I still do. But this is very helpful!

what would you say is the best color to start with? I usually go with a medium brown, and the color is never quite right when I colorize them. Should I start with a red instead?

I have always found a medium/dark to dark brown easier... red is the easiest to change to so you don't want to start with it... I used to start with blonde and when I changed the color it always looked horrible... so yeah i'd say definitely some type of brown
but when you use the auto contrast you can pretty much change it to anything!
