Finally somebody told me what that indie stands for - I always thought it's probably form India and couldn't get it. It's another trend, or subculture I missed - that must mean I'm getting old.
So, what is that trend about? Has it got its fashion, music etc?

Actually "indie" derives from 'independent,' meaning not produced by a major record label, film company, etc. Although now it is used to describe a certain alternative style.

I pretty much doubt you know all of those bands since a few of them are local talent from my area. Cuff the Duke, Constantines, AMFTC (my fiances band), The End, Polarity and Rockets Red Glare are from my area.
But hey whats an indie lover who doesn't like home grown talent right?

*off topic* but lets not let the discussion in the marijuana thread cause problems between us period, I like indie music and so do you.
Anyways, yeah I'm in Toronto Canada and none of those bands have toured over to CA, if they went to US at all it was just to New York.
AMFTC is my fiance's band though and they won a contest and got to go play in Germany, thats most likely the farthest any of those have traveled
What bands do you like?

ooo Broken Social scene, there really good. Me and Brandon like them!
Social Code is another band thats awesome from around here. Brandon got to play with them, look them up on youtube you might like them.
As for depression, well it was REALLY hard. I had siblings who I felt got treated differently then me, I felt like the family outcast. For a long time my friends called me "the ugly one of the group" which didn't help. I would cut myself when I got upset, I attempted suicide once (my fiance now is the one who back then drove me to the hospital).
I went on birth control for awhile and that screwed with my hormones and made it even worse! So I got off of those quickly. I would randomly cry when I was out for almost no reason at all. I got kicked out of my house quite a few times and had to crash at different places for long periods at a time. I honestly found as I got older and moved out on my own things got a bit better. I finally went to speak to my doctor who subscribed me some anti-anxiety pills, she gave me 1 prescription only and owuldnt' give me anymore, it was simply so I could study for my exams because I couldn't focus at all. From there she sent me to a therapist and I found that my going once every 2 weeks helped. It was nice to talk to someone outside of the problem. She had me write down things I liked about myself and things I had accomplished. After awhile I was finally able to stop going. The new friends I made knew I had a problem and where capable of dealing with it, if I got upset they knew and would give me my space or do something fun with me to get my mind off of it. It's best to tell people aorund you or they think your just a drama queen.
Yes I did resort to alot of drugs, after 5 years of smoking weed it just wasn't doing it for me anymore and I started looking for stronger stuff that would still get me the same kind of happy that weed did.
Eventually it turned into a HUGE problem for me so I moved out of the city I was in and away from everyone to get myself clean. I then got pregnant and after the birht of my daughter and the decision to leave my ex I started to come to terms with how my life had gone, all the mistakes I made. I started to have to make decisions about what was best for my kid because it was no longer about me. I had been friends with my fiance Brandon for 5 years before we got together but he HATED drugs and in turn although he liked me he wouldnt' try with me back then. Now that I was clean me an dhim clicked, we got along amazingly and I'm now engaged ot my best friend.
As a teen, especially with school and gossipy friends and backstabbing problems life can be hard. You think your parents hate you and everyone is out to get you. After I had my kid I thought about what my parents did and it started to make sense. I now spend almost every other weekend at my moms and we get along GREAT. I call my dad every few days and things ar efinally better for me now.
I made alot of stupid decisions in the past, could have wound up dead MANY times. Luckily I survived through it all.

There are only a few vids on youtube right now since most of them were done by his step-mom and after he quit she took them all down. I'm proud to say though that he is getting back into it. So I'm SO HAPPY to hear him sing again, he is amazing.
I'm happy to know that we can relate (my past, your present) life stinks sometimes, trust me.
As for movies, never heard of it but I'll check it out. The indie film I just watched was The Laramie Project with Christna Ricci, she is my fave indie actress. I think she is awesome.
Brandon's bugging me to come sit and watch this movie with him, LOL. So I'll write more tommorow.
