An Extended Suggestion Regarding an Historical Theme

With over 100 supporters of a historical clothing theme of sorts in the "Clothing Theme Suggestions" thread, such an idea is certainly in demand.

There are many ways that an historical theme could be represented. Why should it only be through clothes for our bimbos? We could have furniture, clothes for boyfriends and babies, a new house which could later be a level requirement. Which bimbo wouldn't love to live in a manor or a castle or a palace, after all?

The problem with such a theme is that not every historical era could realistically be covered. But this could also be a solution to a lack of inspiration for upcoming themes. Out of ideas? Just pick another era, Dollphane, and there you go.

But for now, help is needed to extend this idea.

Suggested Historical Time Periods:
Roman
Medieval
Tudor
Renaissance
Elizabethan
Baroque
Rococo
Empire
Britannia
Regency
Victorian
Edwardian
Turn of the Century
1920s America/Flappers
WW2/Land Girls/WVF/Entertainers
1950s/Rock n Roll

Theme Suggestions Related to Popular Media and Historical Figures:
Lord of the Rings
A Great and Terrible Beauty
Catherine Cookson
The Duchess
Marie Antoinette
Jane Austin
Robin Hood and Maid Marian

Suggested Furniture Ideas:
Solid wood pieces
Thrones
Four poster beds
Butter churns
Open fire <3
Art Deco
Art Nouveau
Tea set (and it wasn't even me this time roll )

Specific Clothing Suggestions:
Bustles
Ornate corsets
Elaborate gowns
Poodle skirts
Ruffs
Tunics
Armour
Fan (to hold)

Please add to these suggestions

Re: An Extended Suggestion Regarding an Historical Theme

ok some those era's i havernt even heard of but i do like the idea. But first just want to point out that it may be more recent but THE 50'S WAS NOT MENTIONED IN THERE!
Sorry but it has been 60 years since the 50's & i'd class that as historic. & i dont just mean the clothes. (i'd mention more but this isnt MY thread so cant, if you want more info please go to the bring back 50's thread)

Ok Sorry back to historic stuff. I love it. Corsets, throne's oh just awsome.
Some of the furniture could be a butter churner (if we are goin to do poor people in those era's as well) Um the four poster beds with the curtains on the sides.
The big heavy dark velvet curtains!
Um thats all i can think of for know but im totally loving this idea!

1920s America/Flappers

Another aspect of the late 1920s which would be brilliant as a furniture theme is Art Deco. There is just so much style there, the beautiful lines. A few pieces of Charles Renee Macintosh inspired furniture would get back in to designing my apartment. The heigh backed chairs, the well known rose shapes, would love for my Bimbo to have them.

I had a very very long talk with Dollphane about art deco and art nouveau furniture about a year ago and he seemed really enthusiastic about it, but I don't think the themes are completely up to him. I started a thread too, with loads of pictures and explanations and stuff, but it got buried hmm

That is rather a shame I think it would look stunning. Well at least we know there is some interest in from one of the artist which can only be a good thing.

Re: An Extended Suggestion Regarding an Historical Theme

I'm soooo glad Tudor is on the list!!!

I think a theme should be inspired from the clothes that are in the series The Tudors. They are simply INCREDIBLE !

Re: An Extended Suggestion Regarding an Historical Theme

I agree! As Kylie Minogue says, "when you can't find the music to get down and boogie, all you can do is step back in time!" so "when you can find the theme to the perfect outfit, all you can do is step back in time!"

I think we should add 1980's to that list too. Especially 1980's hair metal.
