I can't remember if this was ever talked about but here goes:

Do you guess remember the song/group/occasion that got you hooked to metal?

For me it was when I heard Dark Tranquillity for the first time and their song "Lost to Apathy". Before that I listened almost only to old school rock, but hearing Mikael Stanne's growl was like an orgasm to the ears and I had to have more. smile

ADJ, I saw a band from Brooklyn last night, so I thought of you! Not a metal band though... kind of punk/jazz/whatever - but they were pretty cool

Nyx, I guess metal has been more of a slow growing thing for me. Like just going to clubs and liking what I was dancing to.

Nyx, I'm not sure what got me into metal. I remember all my friends liking rap, and me not, so I made new friends who liked metal. The first few albums I bought were a Naplam Death album, a Slayer album, and Danzig 4.

By the way Danzig is hip now. There's a BrooklynVegan blog about the upcoming Danzig shows. I am disturbed by this. Oh and if you don't know, Brooklyn Vegan is the blog here that hipsters worship. Anytime a show is listed there, tons of hipster duesches show up.

I can't ever remember not liking metal and rock really, my dad is a massive metalhead so its always been an influence. So for that I'll say Judas Priest I guess, and AC/DC for the problem child in me big_smile (not that theres a child inside me.......... I hope....)

I was 7 or 8 when I found metal. My cousin was listening to some song and then I started to listen to metal. But now my cousin listens to rap sad

I'm in the same boat as Chan - my dad was a metalhead so I grew up on Black Sabbath. Although I remember the first time I was REALLY blown away by something, like when I really realised that metal is what I love, was when I listened to Master of Puppets. I was like O.O

When I was younger I listened exclusively to rock and metal. Nowadays I'll listen to almost anything. If you'd have told 12-year-old me that in 10 years I'd be bopping away to k-pop and dubstep, I'd have laughed in your face.

My dad is a massive Sabbath fan, but I never had much of it when I was growing up for some reason. Sabbath are one of my favs though, children of the fucking graaaaaave!!!!!

My favourite metal bands are ~~METALLICA~~ Epica, Linkin Park, Gorillaz (if they count, they're more alternative...), Short Stack, Evanescence, Queen, Wolfmother... And I'm just starting to get into Parkway Drive, Bullet for my Valentine and Anthrax.
