What do you find is so hard about editing when done on layers? I find it more simple...

its not hard i just didnt know how to merge lol when done

Layers will help greatly! I never used them, even when I got my tablet at the end of Sept (woah - that was ages ago!) and everytime I drew, I drew on the actual bimbo base - which meant I had I couldn't rub out anything if I got it on the bimbo and I usually drew the dress shape, coloured and then I had to re-draw the outline! Was soo annoying!
Trust me, once you get the hang of it, it will be the best thing ever!

  i watched the tutorial and fell in love with it... it would have been so practical when doing dress

I sometimes use lasso tool but it's still too hard to draw the lines straight

I tried to do what Idril does but it didn't work .. I usually would have mae the shape the she did it and then would have painstakingly drew around that shape.

Hopefully you find a good alternative, because I've started using it and it's amazing! The lines aren't shaking (something my edits were notorious for!)

I remember Laumini gave a link, but now I re-read the whole thread and I can't find it...

Of course, you don't have to use brush setting described here. I usually use 1 px brush, it is better.

ok i tried out the pen tool.. the dress is pretty straight im fairly happy with my first time using it
