Can I nominate Patti Smith and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth?
Patti Smith is often called the godmother of punk. Her album Horses went on to inspire bands such as R.E.M, U2 and Clash.
And Sonic Youth is credited as influencing the grunge movement.
I think they're both legends on their own right. And they do it without acting all sexy.
Post a link. I am lazy.
And I liked She Wolf more than I thought I would, actually. I had assumed I would feel the same way about it that I did 'Single Ladies', but the only problem I had were the little porn star moans. She should have been growling.

I went on a country music quest! I tried to find some Shania, since she was mentioned but I stumbled upon way too much leopard print clothing and got scared off.
But I did find a Taylor Swift song that reminds me of smacking a dog on the nose with rolled up newspaper.

My sister showed me this awhile ago, I think it gives it a different perspective when a woman sings it.

I'm a big fan of The Ropes. I'd post my favorite song (I Don't Like to Get Dirty) here, but it has language. But if you want to check them out, here's their youtube:

Ahh, I'm liking the older videos.
And maybe I'm compulsively downloading The Ropes. Free music on their website! That's always nice. http://www.theropesonline.com

The lead singer of my favourite band 'Evanescence' - she's had a tough life, but she's a brilliant and respected artist with a s***load of talent - and she's never had to strip to get famous
I lot of her songs are about relationships, but I adore the way she writes about them, and she has an amazing amount of dignity.
Good songs - Lithium
- Call Me When You're Sober
- Everybody's Fool
- Every other song she sings
