Books:
Anyone about 16 or under (and a few who are older) might like the Cirque du Freak series by Darren Shan; especially if you're into the whole vampire thing right now. There's about 12 small books. (Approx. 150-250 pages each)
The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson is great for any age. There's quite a few out now with at least one more coming in 2011. It's a sci-fi/fantasy series.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky is a great book, although it has a few adult themes within it.
Here's a quote about it from Wikipedia: "The book was sixth on the American Library Association's list of the top ten most frequently challenged books of 2008, for reasons including the book's treatment of drugs, homosexuality, sex, and suicide."
I would recommend it, but most would want to wait until about 16 to read it.
One of my favorite books is The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, it's really good but can be slightly depressing. It's not too long, and can be read within a day. There's also a movie which follows the book amazingly well, so I would recommend either.
Tithe by Holly Black and Ironside by Holly Black. Ironside is the sequel to Tithe, and there's another book that I haven't read, but I'm sure is good as well, called Valiant that is loosely connected to the other two I believe.
And of course I have to recommend the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. I finally finished them last year, and as much as I hate the last chapter or few of the last book, I still think it's a good series. Although I really hate her ending..
Movies: (I love unusual/bizarre movies, but I think they're all amazing.)
Battle Royale, The Usual Suspects, True Romance, Swordfish, Lucky Number Sleven, Thelma and Louise, The Boondock Saints, Tank Girl, Fight Club, Death Proof, Planet Terror, The Virgin Suicides, Reservoir Dogs, and A Scanner Darkly. I know there's more but I can't think of them now.

I've just finished reading the Millennium trilogy, which includes 'The Girl with a dragon tattoo', 'The Girl who played with fire', and 'The Girl who kicked the hornet's nest'. If you're an older reader who enjoys crime fiction I really recommend these

I read a LOT because I study English Literature! so new or interesting books people have found are always welcome to me
I study a lot of classics and stuff so sometimes I am looking for something fresh!
English lit. this year required us to read Romeo & Juliet, To Kill A Mockingbird, and Tom Finder. All pretty good reads. Mockingbird is a bit in depth, and many people didn't understand it, but it's on my 'Favorites' list.

Movies
Pride & Prejudice [Keira Knightly, Matthew MacFadyen]
10 Things I Hate About You [Julia Stiles, Health Ledger]
The Road to El Dorado (childish and young, but Tulio is the single hottest cartoon I've ever seen)
Books
The Luxe *series* [Anna Godberson]
Pride & Prejudice [Jane Austen]
Music
I Can Transform Ya [Chris Brown] (old song, but nice beat)
Cha-Ching [Hedley]
Edit: I refuse to recommend Twilight. It's a series about overgrown golden retrievers and homicidal people. I don't have a hate thing for all Twilight fans, be free to adore whatever sparkly boys you choose. But the only sparkles on my boys I like are in their eyes and a little sweat after a workout. *personal opinion*
