I wanted The Lovely Bones to be so much better. There was too much time spent on the inbetween and not enough time spent on the family! And, did anyone count the number of times she screamed "Dad!"?
Oh, to recommend.... I would say if you liked the book that you should read her memoir "Lucky". I started it a few days ago and it's hard to put down.

I haven't been a big tv or movie watcher, but I did enjoy the movie Men Who Stare at Goats. I'd recommend it for those who like satire.
My inner fangirl demands that I suggest Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore as a book, but it's probably best if I note that it's better for mature readers (14 and up). Nothing graphic is in it, but some of the situations and the characters are a little over the top.
An excellent fantasy series is The Twelve Kingdoms, but most stores carry it in the manga section so it's not easy to find.
