Re: Awareness Background(s)

How about a "tolerance for other people's choice of awareness background" awareness background. No offence if I seem to be making a light hearted joke, but it seems that my suggestion may be in order after reading some of the posts above.

Personally, I'm not a snow globe sort of person, so even though Arialvetica provided us with custom snow globe background, I choose not to use it. Why can't that principle be applied to "Support the troops" etc. No one is forcing you.

It's kinda sad that her generous offer has been attacked (for want of a better word).  So instead of being negative and whining about not wanting this or that, why not put forward something positive that you would like to support.

So aswell as my suggestion at the start of this post, I am also keen for any Animal Rights Awareness.

if you meant me - i wasn't attacking her and made clear that she should choose whatever SHE believes in.
and, as a suggestion, like already mentioned: doctors without borders.

Médecins Sans Frontières is a great suggestion, I have supported them in the past.

I cannot speak for Arialvetica, but I'm sure she would make a background for a cause she believes in, being how all this begun, supporting the option of adoption. As most of us are not as experienced in making exceptional bg's, she has kindly offered to make some that would promote awareness about causes we are interested in supporting. I don't understand why we would refuse that? Sure, she could have said "This is what I support, use them if you want", but instead she has asked for the input of the MB community for different ideas. If you don't believe in supporting the troops, that's fine, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. However there are other ways to convey what you believe in. Stating that it is "utterly stupid" is a bit of poor form ( she may not have been attacked but her suggestion was). Maybe you could suggest "War is not the answer" or something like that.

Maybe tolerance of others should be on the top of the list. I think everyone (myself included) can learn from that one, it's always a good reminder.

I hope the idea of awareness bg's doesn't get pushed into the too hard basket.

Re: Awareness Background(s)

For the record, here's a little bit about me and what I believe in.  Please note that some of the ideas I suggested go against my own beliefs.

Animal Rights
I support hunting and fishing for sport.  I eat meat.  I wear leather and fur.  I think that PETA's strategies and ideals are ridiculous and I find it appalling that so many people have joined THIS cause, while there are much more important problems to address (such as the exploitation of children).  However, I know that a lot of people (especially a lot of young girls) care about animal rights and (as evidenced by the clothing descriptions at Nine's) an anti-fur message would be well received by this community.

Support The Troops / Give Peace A Chance
I never disrespect the men and women who sign their lives over to defend my country.  I do not personally support the current US involvement in the Middle East.  In my opinion, it's NOT about defending MY country or protecting human dignity of AMERICAN citizens, so I believe the US should not involve itself in foreign affairs which do not directly concern the US.  However, I'm not a military strategist and don't presume to know more about military/political strategy than those who are.

Abortion, Adoption, and Life
As I understand the science of it, technically abortion ends a life; however, I have never faced this decision personally.  If I had an unwanted pregnancy earlier in my life, I probably would have opted for abortion.  I'm a different person today; I like to think that I would carry the baby to term and put it up for adoption.  But no one really knows how she will cross a bridge until she comes to it.  Recently, my best friend was impregnated by a certified jerk.  After much deliberation, she chose abortion.  I never questioned her choice; I supported her emotionally, offered to drive her to the clinic, and do not think ANY less of her.

The point I'm trying to make here is I want to make awareness backgrounds that Bimbos will proudly display and that will send a USEFUL message to the community, regardless of my own beliefs.  Adoption awareness was a good message in my mind because so many young women (the Miss Bimbo audience) will encounter that decision in their lives and I wanted to make people more aware of the "other" choice.

So you don't want to "support the troops" or "support gay rights", but you're ok with supporting PETA's violent terrorism?

Just to be clear!!
I never said I do not support gay rights! I am shocked that you are acusing me of this. You should read things more carefully before you go off on one like that. I said that gay rights effects every country so is suitible as a topic that all our bimbo player can support.

And my comments of PETA were slightly ironic, come on! Crashing catwalks suiting the Miss Bimbo site? Is there no irony there?

sad dissapointed.

Also, I liked Jezabelle01's comment about "tolerance for other people's choice of awareness background" awareness background. lol.

I think Arial has it right that the themes should be things that could affect lives of our players directly; diseases and how to self check, sexual health, domestic violence, race/gender/religious equality, personal safety, alchohol/drug addiction.

But as I and others have said, its Arial's decision and we are all very gratefull for her work.

Re: Awareness Background(s)

Wildlife conservation? Think of clouded leopards, meerkats, blue-footed boobies!

Now, remember, if we do something touchy or religious, we might start a fuss and a mod is going to have to stop the rampaging bimbos, so I suggest straying away from specific organizations and religious beliefs.

But religious tolerance is a good idea, actually. May be hard to make into a background, though.

You're very sweet for doing all of these for us bimbos. You know that, right? I personally appreciate it very much:]

You don't want young users to be influenced by open-minded ideas? The point is to influence members of positive ideas. Personally, I believe the legalization of same-sex marriage would be a positive change.

I think LaGloriosa nabbed the best one, though.

Re: Awareness Background(s)

I would really love if you made a Breast Cancer Awareness background or a general Cancer Awareness one, because I've just found out that my aunty was diagnosed with breast cancer and I really want to support her and all others, and would gladly use this background x
