I'm on the job market and I'm trying to update my resume and my networking website. Please help me pick which picture you think I should use. Currently I have the brown jacket on my resume and the cream jacket on my website.
Thanks very much for your honest opinion.

CONSTRUCTIVE criticism welcome.

Hmm. Interesting. The brown jacket looks more professional, but the smile is more open and would be someone I would want to hire... can you take one with the dark jacket and smile?

no! I've already taken 27 pictures! these were the best two. i'm tired of smiling...it's so unnatural for me!

I agree with CourtneyLynn1521 but if you can't take anymore pictures, go for the black jacket !

the dark jacket pic would be my pick. you look more professional: not extremely sober, intelligent, with a decent sense of humor, yet still a business woman.
the second one is the kind of picture you give your family and friends.

I like the second pic best. I think the first one shows too much of the chest. It might be okay for selling houses... because I feel like those pics are a bit more easygoing... But the second one seems more professional for the reason that it covers up more. Your smile is cute too in the second one.

What kind of industry are you in/trying to get into? Unless you are a model, actress or something like that, a picture on a resume is a huge no-no to put it lightly. A bit of info about what you do would be helpful in answering your questions.

yeah, i thought that too, but if you spend much time on the job market, you will see that times are changing. HR personnel want to know what their candidates look like. I've never put a pic on a resume before, but i decided to try it this time... we'll see what happens.

I like the dark jackt and half smile. It looks smart, nice and professional.
And these days companys want to see what kind of person is applying. I think it's because they want to make sure they are presentable and clean and not full of tattoos and piercings or something like that.. Especially if the job is costumer service.

I agree that is an important part of picking the right person for the job, but that's why you go in for an interview. That doesn't mean that a picture on a resume is the way to go.

But if there is many people applying, it's a good way to rule some out.

The first one is more professional but I would have a shirt under the jacket.

just for the record, i decided to take the pic off.
however, i do like the idea of a pic. nowdays all applications are sent in via internet (or at least they are here) i don't want to waste my time or theirs if i don't have the "look" they're going for.

i voted the dark jacket before i realized there were the actual pictures posted below and i take it back. i definitely prefer the full smile in the light jacket. it is too easy to misinterpret the half smile as a more of a disengaged look. the light jacket w/ full smile looks like someone i'd want to hire and work with

The white jacket and smile combo is much more natural. I don't know why but the first gives the impression you're trying a little too hard, whereas the second is much more friendly, and yet still gives the impression you're a hard worker.

i would definetly choose the second one. I mean since when black jacket is more proffesional than the light jacket? i can only see black on you as boring and makes you look older. if i was flipping through an album of pics and see the black jacket pic, i'd just flip through without any notice. The light jacket and full smile, just make you give off a different vibe, you seem as a pleasant person to work with, intelegent and funny.
It even makes me wanna be your friend now
Well thats what i think...

The dark jacket does make you look rather determined.
