Which one are you?

I find the two don't always go together .

I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but common sense has taken me far big_smile

Then I'll balance it out by saying "I don't think I excel in either"

I do get a bit of a shock when someone that comes across really intelligent, does something that goes against common sense! lol

Well they definitely aren't the same thing, I know a lot of intelligent people who are completely lacking in common sense, but I suppose it's hard to have common sense if you aren't at least a little bit intelligent!

Like CarCrash I would like to say I have both but don't excel in either! Although, I am probably more proud of the common sense, because my mum seems to be proud of me for it.

my son is quite intelligent (considering he's two tongue), and fairly advanced with his speaking skills and such. But common sense?? Not a whole lot of that compared to the other children I know!

I'm not saying your an idiot sweets, but when it comes to intelligence in school I topped most of my classes which were the second highest level, however since having left school I have lost alot of that knowledge because I don't use it anymore.

No no its ok, I like to think I'm intelligent because once upon a time I actually was and I just don't want to give that title up lol, I do know that my common sense is greater than my intelligence though

ETA: It has been 7 years since I left school so its pretty much all dried up now lol

I think you have to have common sense to be intelligent.

I think you can know a lot without having any common sense but that is just being knowledgeable not intelligent.

But yeah. They are separate. My friend's mom is an operatic singer and has a PhD in some sort of engineering field and she's pretty silly sometimes. One night she forgot how to use the toaster.

Haha... this one is a thinker. I am surrounded by intelligent people who completely lack common sense, which brings down my opinion of them. And then people who are not always academically outstanding some time can get things done very effectively because of common sense. Common sense gets your further in the "real world" than just sheer book-smart intelligence.

But having both doesn't hurt. smile
