Para, it is different.
Fourfa.com even explains how it's different; it gives a whole history, starting in the late '80s. It's derived from punk, but it's not punk.

i've read that one before. basically they just took some stuff from other genres, mixed it together, and hello new genre.

that's why i don't think it's new. it is a style (it's very late, i am trying to be coherent and failing), just not...new.

Just because something doesn't fit your definition of 'new' doesn't mean it isn't a legitimate genre. No style of music is entirely original. They all have roots and have come out of older styles.
