I was thinking about my time in Europe. We had a lottery where we would put a quarter/ Euro money = on a table next to the edge..... and count the tracks till it fell off the table....
Just curious, what you would guess?
This was done for real money, and Not a game question.
This is just an opinion Poll. Pure random ideas and a topic of the condition of the rail system in your country.
No reply needed, Just Vote.
I know I often judged the condition of the tracks, and the country I was in.....
Call this an education experience. Well; That's what I told my mother anyhow....
I never told her in What country I was in.
So pick a train track, you would normally ride, or wish to.

We don't have tables on our metro trains.
But what exactly are you asking. I'm genuinely confused?

Don't get it. But I would say not more than 1 km?

Oh WOW !!! I though 1 KM, would never be used !!!!!!! EXCEPT in INDIA.
It's because I don't get it
A quarter on the edge of a table on a moving train.. Is the quarter spinning or standing? Or is it basically just on a table?
What does India have to do with it?

Vibration, and tracks conditions. I could get technical, but this is a bimbo question. Just Guess.

Then I stick with 1 KM. Railways in Egypt are no better than India so I'm sure that's the right answer

I suppose inter-city trains are different, than cross country ones. OK, imagine a coin on your knee? and your pinned between two stinky men.....
This doesn't work either. There's always different bumps in the trainride, but it just depends on the train driver usually.
Also, I'd never be pinned between 2 stinky men. If the train was that crowded, I'd likely be standing.

I'm in Germany, where there are no such things as bumps, so I'd say 10km+ (whatever that has to do with your original measure of "tracks")

LOL. 0 KM. I should have included that Option.

Has anyone ever taken a scenic Train Trip?
There is this one in Australia, I so want to go on. The funny thing is it costs more to fly there, than a 10 day trip through the outback on a train. The train feeds and shelters you too. A track riding hotel, to out of the way places.......
Just thinking of a Holiday......

There's a few scenic ones that take a few days. There's The Ghan, The Orient Express and The Indian Pacific (which I'm pretty sure it the one you're talking about.) It takes 10 days because it goes around the country.

There are lots of places in the UK you can take short scenic trips, so yes, I have.
I do really love trains and train travel so I'm keen to take some trips in other parts of the world too. I've had an idea in my head for a while to travel the west coast of America by train.

One thing I really love in the UK was the ease of use of the trains. and very inexpensive too.
The one thing I hated, was all the graffiti along the tracks. On a trip from Norfolk to London, I could tell we were getting close to London, by looking out of the window, and seeing trash and bad art strewn all over the tracks. The country-side was OK.
Because I live in the western part of America, I've never taken a train trip here.
I have driven the entire length from San Diego, to Vancouver Canada, and it is a spectacular trip. If you have only ridden trains in the UK, you would be amazed at the mountains, cities and through forest lands the train would take you too.
I would call it a cruse on land.

If anything the graffiti is worse in Germany - they seem to almost encourage it - and one thing I hate about train travel here, is they have up boards alongside many of the tracks, even in the countryside. I think it's to reduce noise pollution, but it means that from the train you can't see anything EXCEPT graffiti. I travelled from here (near Frankfurt) to Amsterdam by train and honestly I barely knew I was moving, I hardly saw anything on the way. (Although I doubt there was much to see anyway! The countryside around here is not really something I'd write home about.)

I suppose I was comparing it to filling up a car with fuel, verse jumping on a train.
Coming from America, where fuel is very inexpensive. When I was hit with a fuel bill, I nearly passed out. Back home that single fuel bill would have been enough for me to drive for 6 weeks. In the UK, I burned it up in 2 days. That's when I started to take the train.
PS, It is scary for western Americans to drive in the UK. It felt all wrong, and I was always so nervous, I felt relief when I shut down the engine. In some ways, I think American drivers should need to take a special driving class in the UK, before being handed keys to a car. It is funny how I can fly airplanes, and ride motorcycles, and I've never been as scared as driving in a major city in the UK. The rule with Buses and Lorries, really freaked me. Narrow streets, that only one car could fit through, it was a nightmare. I gave up and just hired taxis for short trips.

in romania the train is shaky so it would fall off seconds after putting it on the table. when i go to the toilet in the train i always imagine it`s an earthquake simulation.
